Women's T20 Asia Cup 2026 | India vs Bangladesh | Preview and Predictions
Bangladesh survived a massive scare last night to squeeze into the semi-finals, becoming the fourth and final team in the final four for the ongoing Women’s Asia Cup 2026. Team India had sailed through to the semi-finals with three wins from as many games but Bangladesh left it late and it needed a win in their final group game to make the semi-finals.
Ahead of the first semi-final of the Women’s Asia Cup 2026 between India and Bangladesh, here’s our match preview and predictions.

The Indian women have had three comfortable wins to make the semi-finals but despite the wins, India’s batting has been shaky and aside from Smriti Mandhana and Shafali Verma’s individual contributions, the Indian batters have shown nothing. Mandhana, Verma and Pratika Rawal in the top three have been the only ones who have gotten some runs in the tournament for India as the rest of the Indian batters including an experienced middle order has failed. Captain Harmanpreet Kaur has failed to capitalise on the opportunities so far as has the likes of Bharti Fulamli, Richa Ghosh and Deepti Sharma. As the tournament enters its business end, India needs their experienced batters to step up especially given Deepti Sharma at no.7 is the final recognised batter in the lineup.
With the ball, it has been the spinners who have done all the heavy-lifting on slow and gripping surfaces. Deepti Sharma, Prema Rawat and Shree Charani together have accounted for 20 out of the 30 wickets India have taken in the tournament. Nandi Sharma and Kranti Gaud have been economical with the ball and have created pressure up top which have allowed the spinners to ease in and end up picking the wickets.
Like India, Bangladesh’s batting hasn’t clicked as a unit either with only Sobhana Mostary, Shorna Akter and Dilara Akter being the only ones who have gotten some runs under their belt. Bangladesh’s middle order is where their experience and firepower lies in the likes of Sobhana Mostarym Nigar Sultana, Shorna Akter and the experienced veteran all-round Ritu Moni. While they had a batting show to forget against the UAE, Bangladesh will hope that their batters pull up their socks against a formidable bowling unit. The Bangladeshi batters have struggled against the spinners in the tournament and against a strong spin attack of India, Bangladesh will have their task cut out.
Bangladesh’s star bowler, Marufa Akter has been leading the way with the ball, providing breakthroughs with the new ball as the youngster has been critical in conditions which generally haven’t suited seam bowling. The Bangladeshi spin attack of Rabeya Khan, Shorna Akter and Nahida Akter have been miserly with the ball in the middle overs and will be looking to make the most of the Indian batters’ struggles in the tournament.
The semi-final between India and Bangladesh will be an evenly matched semi-final with two very similar teams, who are struggling with the bat and have been counting on their spinners to bail them out of tricky situations, going up against each other. Both teams are familiar with the conditions and the Dubai pitch, which has become slow and gripping. Not many runs are expected given the form of the batters of both teams but given the firepower and experience in their squad, the Indian women start with a slight edge.
