English football club Charlton Athletic and the Charlton Athletic Community Trust (CACT) has announced partnership renewal with the University of Greenwich, who will continue on as the Official Higher Education Partner of the club. The partnership will aim to strengthen the relationship and create opportunities across education, community engagement and sport. The University of Greenwich will also have expanded presence across the club’s player pathway and community programmes, featuring on the kits of the club’s academy and Trust’s Post-16 teams as well as CACT’s Upbeats and Charlton Invicta squads. The club and the University will continue to work together on research projects and other social value initiatives, including the validation of community impact delivered through CACT’s programmes.

Ella Ellis, Commercial Manager, Charlton Athletic, said,

“We are proud to continue our partnership with the University of Greenwich, who have been a valued supporter of both the club and CACT for many years. Together, we are committed to creating opportunities for young people, supporting innovation and making a positive impact across our community. Their support of our academy is particularly significant as part of building a more sustainable future for the club. Charlton has a proud track record of developing players who have represented England and, once again this season, are making important contributions to our men’s first team. We are excited to build on this strong relationship in the years ahead.”

David James, Director, Charlton Athletic Community Trust (CACT), commented,

“CACT is proud of the long-standing partnership with the University of Greenwich. This has enabled us to create meaningful opportunities for local people through initiatives such as the Make It Make Sense and post-16 programmes that help young people build confidence, develop new skills, gain qualifications and broaden their aspirations. By working together, we have been able to deliver a lasting impact for communities over the years and look forward to working with the university going forward.”

Jane Harrington, CEO and Vice-Chancellor, LASE University Group, added,

“Our partnership with Charlton Athletic and Charlton Athletic Community Trust demonstrates the power of collaboration in creating opportunities that extend far beyond the classroom. Through this renewed commitment, we will continue to connect our students with real-world experiences, support impactful research and contribute to initiatives that strengthen communities across south-east London and Kent. We are proud to be working alongside organisations that share our ambition to help people realise their potential and create lasting social impact.”
