Staff Staff

Cricket is one of the most popular sports in the world. With its exciting and unique gameplay, there is no doubt that many players have been hooked to the sport and its events. As it is well-loved across the world, it is not surprising to know that there are events that made such a huge impact on its viewers. Among these is the Indian Premier League (IPL).

The IPL is known as one of the most popular sports leagues in the world. Usually held between the months of March and May, this event is what cricket fans from all over the world anticipate every year.

The league comprises eight teams who each represent the different cities and states of India. With that, fans tend to bet on their favourite teams and try their luck like how they do in online casinos like casinodays. By seeing how the games unfold, fans will know if they made the right assumptions and if they got lucky with it.

As another season draws near, here is a quick update of how Mustafizur Rahman will be featured for another IPL season.

Mustafizur Rahman and his IPL experience

Mustafizur Rahman is a Bangladeshi pacer who is also known as ‘The Fizz’ for his trademark cutter move which made him more popular. Although he is known for being an active player for the national team, he was not included in the Test lineup for the two-match series against Sri Lanka next month.

The 25-year-old player has also played for the IPL before when he debuted for the Sunrisers Hyderabad in the 2016 season. In that season, he claimed 17 wickets in 16 matches at a strike rate of 21.52.

In 2017, he only played one game for the entirety of the season. In the 2018 season, he played for the Mumbai Indians where he picked up seven wickets in seven matches. He failed to play in the 2019 and 2020 season of the league after being denied a No Objection Certificate (NOC) by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB).

His commitment for the 2021 season

In preparation for this season, Rahman was among the choices in the 2021 IPL players’ auction where he was picked by the Rajasthan Royals at his base price of ?1 crore. After being sold, BCB chief selector Minhajul Abedin also confirmed that the board thinks that it’s better for Rahman to play in the tournament instead.

Abedin says, ‘We have given him NOC for IPL as he is not in our Test plans for the upcoming tour of Sri Lanka. It’s better if he plays there and gains some experience’.

Prior to Rahman receiving his NOC, the board reacted negatively when they learned that Shakib Al Hasan has opted to skip the tour of Sri Lanka in order to be a part of the IPL. With this, Rahman insisted that he was willing to skip the IPL in case he was chosen to play against Sri Lanka.

Rahman says, ‘My first priority is to play for my country and if I am picked in the Test series against Sri Lanka, I will naturally play. If I am not picked then BCB will tell me that I am not included. At that point, if I am given NOC to play in the IPL then I will play but patriotism comes first for me’.

The upcoming schedule

Now that Rahman has already received his NOC, he will be seen as a part of the Rajasthan Royals on their first game on April 12 at the Wankhede Stadium. There, they will play against the Punjab Kings.

This is just one of the latest updates that IPL fans can expect to see in the league. So, if you are looking for more fun ways to entertain yourself aside from playing in online casinos like casinodays, then make sure to check the latest updates about your favourite IPL teams.
