Asian Football Confederation (AFC) announces partnership with Hudl

The Asian Football Confederation (AFC), the continent’s football-governing body, has signed a five-year partnership agreement with Hudl, a sports performance technology company and video analysis solutions provider, which has acquired the exclusive scouting rights to all major AFC competitions.

The deal will see Hudl gain access to the AFC’s content, which will be available on the Hudl Wyscout platform and provide “data for professional purposes, including performance analysis, coaching, player development and scouting”.

The AFC qualifiers for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, the 2027 AFC Asian Cup in Saudi Arabia, and the 2026 AFC Women’s Asian Cup in Australia are the main international football events that will be covered by the Hudl partnership.

In terms of age-group competitions, the U23 Asian Cup, as well as several editions of the U17 and U20 Asian Cups — both men’s and women’s — will be covered by the partnership.

The AFC’s premier club competitions, including the Champions League Elite, the Champions League Two, and the Women’s Champions League, will also be covered from their 2024/25 to 2028/29 editions.

Datuk Seri Windsor John, AFC General Secretary, commented:

Data analytics and technology have become an integral part of the modern game in recent years, and the AFC is pleased to sign this scouting rights agreement with Hudl. This strategic arrangement will not only enhance our data and statistical collection but will also empower our coaches and technical staff with access to more detailed and in-depth information, which in turn will elevate their analytical and scouting capabilities.

Mateo Bourrut Lacouture, Elite Partnership Manager, Hudl, said:

This agreement is a major step forward for clubs, national teams, and analysts across Asia and beyond. With the AFC overseeing all top club competitions and the AFC Asian Qualifiers in the region, having full coverage on Wyscout ensures that teams can access high-quality video and data for both scouting and in-depth performance analysis of the AFC Competitions. This will empower clubs and federations to make more informed decisions, enhance player development, and elevate the level of competition.

Patrick Murphy, CEO of AFG, added:

The most powerful innovation happens where technology meets tradition. That’s why we’re excited to announce this new scouting rights agreement with Hudl. We look forward to seeing AFC competitions available on the Wyscout platform, giving clubs and football professionals worldwide access to cutting-edge scouting and analysis tools focused on Asian football.
