India had judo and track cycling competitions to contend with on the final day of the 2026 Commonwealth Games, followed by the closing ceremony, which was led by boxer Jaismine Lamboria. However, none of the participating athletes could add to the country’s total medal tally, although Ishroop Singh came really close to a bronze medal.

Elsewhere, England’s Tara Neyland broke both the CWG and world records in the Women’s Para Cycling C4-C5 4000m Individual Pursuit with a record time of 4:49.648 en route to her gold medal. New Zealand’s Devon Briggs also wrote his name into CWG history with a Games record in the Men’s Para Cycling C3 1000m Time Trial with a time of 1:05.536, breaking Scotland’s Finn Graham’s record of 1:07.527, set earlier on the same day.

More than 3,000 athletes from 74 Commonwealth nations and territories competed in 215 medal events across ten sports at Glasgow 2026. Despite missing out on major sports like shooting, badminton, wrestling, and table tennis, where India had earned a majority of their medals in the past, reaching 39 medals has been an impressive achievement. Massive shoutout to the boxing contingent that brought an incredible haul of ten medals, including seven gold medals and three silver medals.

Gulveer Singh was arguably India’s best athlete of the campaign, winning a historic silver in the Men’s 10,000m and a bronze in the Men’s 5000m races, becoming the first Indian track and field athlete to win two CWG medals in a single campaign.

Here, we look at how things unfolded for India on the final day of the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games.

Men’s 100kg Round of 16: Avtar Singh lost his Round of 16 match by ippon to Cyprus’ Aristos Michael, a very disappointing result for the Olympian against a fairly inexperienced opponent.
