The contest to settle the third spot at the 2024 Copa América will see Canada take on Uruguay at the Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Canada will certainly be second favourites heading into this match, having struggled to find the back of the net in this tournament. In the group stage, they found the net just once through Jonathan David, while managing just one more in the knockout rounds against Venezuela. They’ll likely set up with four at the back and have proven to be defensively resilient.
On the other hand, many would have had Uruguay as their favourites to progress into the final of this tournament. However, they were knocked out in the semi-final following a 1-0 loss to Colombia, who remain unbeaten in the competition. With the overwhelming attacking talent they possess, Uruguay will be expected to finish third.
Alphonso Davies is the main concern for Canada and could be missing this clash due to injury. Apart from the FC Bayern Munich defender, Les Rouges will be without Tajon Buchanan, who injured his tibia in the quarter-final against Venezuela.
For Uruguay, Darwin Núñez’ inclusion remains in doubt as he and some others continue to remain under investigated after their scuffle with Colombian fans in the stands during their semi-final match. However, Nahitan Nández will return from suspension, while Ronald Araújo will miss the game due to injury.

Uruguay have certainly shown more attacking intent and flair in this year’s Copa América and should be getting out of this one as winners fairly comfortably. With Canada’s lack of attacking prowess, I don’t see them netting against Uruguay at all.
