Russian promotional company that organises mixed martial arts (MMA) competitions in Russia and the CIS region, Fight Nights Global, is considering opening a representative office in India. This was announced to TASS, Russia’s leading news agency, on November 22, 2022, by Fight Nights Global’s President Kamil Gadzhiyev.

Gadzhiyev stated that Fight Nights Global would eventually operate fully in India and also promote Indian fighters worldwide as well. He also hopes to grow martial arts in the country as well through this initiative.

Kamil Gadzhiyev, President, Fight Nights Global, commented:

I watch with great interest what is happening in Indian sports. All this impresses me very much. In general, Russia and India are close countries, we grew up on Indian films, we understand the culture of this country. Cricket in India is one of the iconic sports stories in the world. I would like us to use this correct experience in MMA in India.

I think we can create a headquarters for Fight Nights Global in India so that competent specialists, of whom there are many in this country, are engaged in the search for talents and the promotion of MMA. This is the organisation of tournaments and the promotion of Indian fighters outside the country – in Russia, Kazakhstan, Belarus.

In India, they are absolutely definitely there. We will now study the industry in more detail when we visit this country.

Evgeny Griva, the Deputy Trade Representative of the Russian Federation in New Delhi, also spoke to TASS and revealed that one of the leading federations of mixed martial arts in India, MMAFI, and Fight Nights Global are discussing a partnership to promote and develop mixed martial arts and sambo in the country as well.

Yevgeny Griva, Deputy Trade Representative, Russian Federation, Delhi, said:

The basis of such a partnership will be the tremendous growth of interest in MMA in India, the demand for opening sections, attracting coaches, holding tournaments, the vast experience and authority of Fight Nights in this area.”

Griva drew attention to the fact that Indian company Khemka Global Infrastructure is already planning to provide financial support at the launch stage and develop a profitable commercial project of Russian-Indian trade and economic cooperation.
