After a month’s action at the 2024 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, we have reached the last game as inaugural T20 World Cup champions India take on South Africa in the final.
Rohit Sharma and his boys will be looking to take India to their second T20 World Cup triumph, while the Proteas, who under Aiden Makram’s captaincy have been outstanding, will be looking to win their first ICC trophy since 1998.
As we gear up for the final of the 2024 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, here’s my preview and prediction for the game.

Two unbeaten teams who have had a stellar run in the tournament. Two teams looking to lift the trophy for very different reasons.
India, who have been one of the best white-balls teams in the last decade or so, have had an issue with going the distance in ICC tournaments, often falling short towards the end. South Africa, on the other hand, have the infamous tag of “chokers” given their failure to clear the semi-finals of ICC events. By making it to the final, this is the first-time in the history of Proteas men’s cricket that they have reached an ICC final.
India will be looking to somewhat soften the blow from the recent ODI World Cup final loss, while South Africa will be looking to write a new chapter in the history of sport in their country. Both teams have been led brilliantly by their respective captains, Rohit Sharma and Aiden Markram.
At the Kensington Oval, which is a high-scoring ground with assist for spinners, it will be a test of the batters from both squads. India have had their captain Rohit Sharma come in clutch in the last two games when his team needed him the most, while South Africa’s top order with the ever-reliable David Miller has stepped up whenever needed.
The two teams have also had their bowling line-ups perform as a unit regularly, which has played an important role in seeing them through to the final.
At a fast and bouncy pitch, the Indian batters will have to be wary of South Africa’s fast bowling trio of Kagiso Rabada, Marco Jansen, and Anrich Nortje, all of whom have been stellar throughout the tournament.
We should be in for a high-scoring final, and I back the Men In Blue to secure their second T20 World Cup trophy on Saturday.
Fantasy XI: Rohit Sharma, Quinton de Kock, Aiden Markram, Heinrich Klaasen, David Miller, Hardik Pandya, Kuldeep Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, Kagiso Rabada, Anrich Nortje, Marco Jansen
