Day 11 of the 2024 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup was supposed to have three games for us, but they were reduced to two because the contest between Sri Lanka and Nepal was washed out without a ball bowled.
Here’s how the remaining two encounters went.
Australia have been clinical in this tournament so far and recorded their third straight win in an extremely convincing fashion against Namibia. They bowled out the associate nation for just 72 runs, with only captain Gerhard Erasmus managing to make a significant contribution, scoring 36 off 43.
Adam Zampa’s brilliant tournament continues as he was the pick of the bowlers with his 4/12 in his quota of four overs. The chase was fairly simple, with openers David Warner (20 off 8) and Travis Head (34 off 17) scoring the majority of the runs.
Following this result, the Aussies have secured their spot in the Super Eights and are currently top of Group B with six points.
First innings: Namibia 72/10 in 17 overs
Second innings: Australia 74/1 in 5.4 overs
The second game on show saw India also ensuring their spot in the next round of the competition by beating the home side by seven wickets in what proved to be a tricky chase.
The New York wicket has proved to most sides that any total is defendable. The USA managed to score 110 runs, with Nitish Kumar (27 off 23) and Steven Taylor (24 off 30) registering more than half their team’s runs. Arshdeep Singh was brilliant up front with the new ball for India picked up four wickets for just nine runs in his four overs.
India did not find it easy chasing on this wicket, however, and lost openers Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma within the first 15 balls. However, Suryakumar Yadav’s mature 50 off 49, along with help from Shivam Dube (31 off 15), helped the Men in Blue across the line.
First innings: USA 110/8 in 20 overs
Second innings: India 111/3 in 18.2 overs
