FTX joins as the official cryptocurrency exchange partner.
The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced cryptocurrency platform FTX as its official cryptocurrency exchange partner. The deal will see FTX sponsor all the global cricketing events up to the 2023 Men’s ODI World Cup.
The collaboration will start with the ongoing Men’s T20 World Cup and will include the ODI and T20I World Cups for men’s and women’s and also the men’s U19 World Cup and World Cup qualifiers.
Speaking about the partnership, Anurag Dahiya, Chief Commercial Officer, ICC, stated:
“We are delighted to welcome FTX to our diverse family of partners at the ICC at an especially exciting time for the sport.
“FTX has successfully established itself in a very dynamic sector as one of the world’s leading cryptocurrency exchanges. Their innovative and ambitious approach matches well with the energy of our sport.”
The Bahamas-headquartered firm has been slowly but steadily building a respectable sports portfolio, having already partnered with Mercedes Formula One team and the Major League Baseball. It also holds the naming rights to Miami Heat’s home arena.
Sam Bankman-Fried, Chief Executive and founder of FTX, commented:
“Cricket is a long-established sport with a deep history and team ties that go back generations.
“Cryptocurrency is still in its infancy and at FTX we are looking to forge a new path in mostly unchartered territory. However, to me, this partnership represents the marriage of those two concepts. We look forward to building a strong relationship with the International Cricket Council in the years to come.”
