ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 | Match 27: England vs New Zealand | Preview and Predictions

While this is a dead rubber for all intents and purposes as all the semifinal slots have been decided, New Zealand will take on England in what will be their skipper Sophie Devine’s final ODI appearance in Match Number 27 of the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup.

Here is the preview and prediction for the game.

ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 | Match 27: England vs New Zealand | 11:00, October 26

England now know their opponents and the venue for their semifinal, so they will now look to iron out whatever chinks, flaws, or issues that they have in their side in this game.

The England batsmen have well and truly come to the party this World Cup, with superlative knocks in different games from Heather Knight, Nat Sciver-Brunt, Tammy Beaumont, etc. They have managed to bat according to the situation and have paced their innings perfectly as they reaped the rewards of spending time in the middle.

As far as their bowling goes, the likes of Sophie Ecclestone, Linsey Smith, Charlie Dean, and Lauren Bell have complemented each other rather effectively. Ecclestone and Smith in particular have been mighty impressive in this tournament, with Smith showing her nous in that close victory against India when it felt like India were favourites.

Overall, England will use this game as an opportunity to fine-tune their squad ahead of their semifinal clash against South Africa.

For New Zealand, though, their tournament just never got going. A couple of losses followed by constant washouts in almost every game they played have not only left them disappointed, but also frustrated because all they wanted to do was play some cricket, and that was not the case for most of the White Ferns’ games.

This is Sophie Devine’s final ODI game and she will be hoping to go out on a high. She has been one of the pillars of this New Zealand side over the years and she deserves a send-off that reflects her huge standing in the Women’s Game.

However, all things considered, expect England to be victorious in this game. They are the better side and stand to win solely off the fact that they have played more cricket than their opponents.

Fantasy 11: Georgia Plimmer, Tammy Beaumont, Heather Knight, Nat Sciver-Brunt ( c ), Amy Jones (wk), Sophie Devine, Brooke Halliday. Sophie Ecclestone, Linsey Smith, Rosemary Mair, Eden Carson.

Venue: Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium, Visakhapatnam.

Winners Prediction: England
