Match 19 of the 2025 Indian Premier League season brings us a clash between the SunRisers Hyderabad and the Gujarat Titans at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Lucknow on April 6.
For the game, here are our preview and predictions.
After handing the Royal Challengers Bengaluru their first defeat of the season at their home, Shubman Gill and Co will now try to pick up another crucial away win against Pat Cummins’ SunRisers.
SRH kicked off their IPL campaign in spectacular style, putting up 286 in their opening game as Ishan Kishan scored a century on debut. Barring their last game against the Delhi Capitals, SRH’s batting has been strong, with young Aniket Verma being the standout player so far with his power-hitting. The likes of Abhishek Sharma, Nitish Kumar Reddy, and Heinrich Klaasen haven’t got going yet, and Cummins will hope that his explosive batting lineup comes together against the Titans.
Cummins also has at his disposal an experienced bowling lineup boasting the likes of Mohammed Shami, Harshal Patel, Adam Zampa, and himself. Abhishek Sharma, interestingly, has opened the bowling with his off-spin in the last couple of games. SRH have been leaking runs, though, and know they’ll have to work on it over the next few games.
The Titans, on the other hand, have won two on the bounce, including a hammering of RCB at the Chinnaswamy. Their top order has been doing the bulk of the scoring, with Gill, Sai Sudharsan, and Jos Buttler having a good time out in the middle. Sherfane Rutherford at #4 has been explosive as well, though the batters below him haven’t really been tested—something SRH will be aware of.
With the ball, Mohammed Siraj, Prasidh Krishna, and Ravisrinivasan Sai Kishore have been economical and among the wickets. Arshad Khan showcased his ability against RCB, while the veteran Ishant Sharma has been reliable as well. One GT bowler who hasn’t got going this season yet is Rashid Khan. He will be returning to a ground he knows very well, having played for SRH, and he’ll want to leverage this to get his season going.
Hyderabad might be coming into this game on the back of two losses, but at home, with their backs against the wall, we back the Cummins-led side to take the win. The SRH batters will want to go big after a couple of underwhelming performances by their lofty standards, and the Hyderabad strip is known to produce lots of runs. Expect another high-scoring encounter.
