Indian Premier League 2025 | Match 26: Lucknow Super Giants vs Gujarat Titans | 19:30 IST, April 12
The Gujarat Titans have looked like the most balanced side this season with a combination of hard-hitting and reliable batters along with a top-class blend of skilful spin and pace bowlers.
In their last game against the Rajasthan Royals, GT were put in to bat first. With the help of opener Sai Sudharsan (82 off 53), Jos Buttler (36 off 25), and Shahrukh Khan (36 off 20), as well as Rahul Tewatia’s (24* off 12) last-over exploits, GT made 217/6 in their quota of 20 overs. For RR, Tushar Deshpande and Mahesh Theekshana took two wickets each, though they both gave away too many runs.
In response, the Royals never really got going, losing Yashasvi Jaiswal, Nitish Rana, and Riyan Parag within the first seven overs. Sanju Samson (41 off 28) gave them some hope and Shimron Hetmyer finished as their top scorer for the game (52 off 32), but other batters failed to contribute sufficiently as RR were bowled out for 159 in 19.2 overs. Prasidh Krishna was the pick of the GT bowlers with figures of 3/24 in his four overs. Ravisrinivasan Sai Kishore and Rashid Khan also supported him well with crucial wickets.
On the other hand, the Lucknow Super Giants played the Kolkata Knight Riders in their most recent encounter. Batting first, their top order annihilated the KKR bowlers, with Mitchell Marsh (81 off 48), Nicholas Pooran (87* off 36), and Aiden Markram (47 off 28) making huge contributions to push their side to a massive total of 238/3.
In response, KKR lost two early wickets but scored 91 runs in the Powerplay thanks to a quickfire 30 off 13 from Sunil Narine. Ajinkya Rahane (61 off 35) and Venkatesh Iyer (45 off 29) then looked like making short work of the target, but the KKR middle-order batters ended up disappointing, and sending Rinku Singh (38* off 15) late proved costly as they fell short by four runs.
While LSG’s top-order batting has been the most destructive in the IPL so far, their leaky bowling has left a lot to be desired. Compared to them, GT’s spin and pace bowlers are in better nick, giving them the edge for this encounter.
Fantasy XI: Sai Sudharsan, Mitchell Marsh, Shubman Gill (c), Nicholas Pooran, Jos Buttler, Rishabh Pant (wk), Rashid Khan, Ravisrinivasan Sai Kishore, Digvesh Singh, Shardul Thakur, Mohammed Siraj
Venue: Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow
