IPL 2026 | Match 4: PBKS vs GT | Preview and Predictions

The Punjab Kings, last season’s runners-up, will be looking to go one step further this time as they kick off their IPL 2026 campaign against the star-studded Gujarat Titans (GT), who themselves are looking for another title after going all the way in their debut IPL season.

Here, we present our preview and predictions for Match 4 of the 2026 Indian Premier League season.

Shubman Gill will be at the helm of the Gujarat Titans once again. This time, Team India’s Test and ODI captain has something to prove after a disappointing T20 World Cup snub. He will be in charge of a well-balanced side with a strong batting line-up comprising himself, Jos Buttler, Sai Sudharsan, Glenn Phillips, Tom Banton, and Shahrukh Khan.

GT have some handy all-rounders in Washington Sundar and Jason Holder, both of whom will be key for them. With the ball, Sundar will support Rashid Khan and Sai Kishore in the spin department. The GT seam attack comprises star international bowlers such as Kagiso Rabada, Mohammed Siraj, Ishant Sharma, and Luke Wood, who round out a well-oiled unit.

As far as PBKS are concerned, captain Shreyas Iyer will be leading the squad once again and be key to the batting line-up, with the likes of Priyansh Arya, Prabhsmiran Singh, and Nehal Wadhera making up a crucial Indian batting core that will shoulder most of the responsibility.

Marcus Stoinis will be the key all-rounder for the Kings alongside Marco Jansen, who will be particularly key with the ball. Arshdeep Singh and veteran Indian spinner Yuzvendra Chahal will be the chief operators with the ball, though overall PBKS don’t boast an explosive squad like some of the other teams, so a lot will depend on their international stars.

The Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in New Chandigarh hasn’t seen a lot of action, though it has been a high-scoring venue.

Given we have two explosive batting line-ups here, we should be in for a high-scoring encounter, at the end of which we back the well-balanced Gujarat Titans to walk away with a win.
