A rapidly sinking Mumbai Indians are running out of time, ideas, and opportunities to get back to winning ways as they face a buoyant Sunrisers Hyderabad side looking to pile further misery on the 5-time Champions in what is a critical Match Number 41 in the 2026 IPL season.

Here is our Preview and Predictions for the game.

IPL 2026 | Match 41: Mumbai Indians vs Sunrisers Hyderabad | 19:30, 29 April.

Mumbai Indians’ season in the 2026 IPL has been a classic example of taking one step forward, and then being pushed two steps back. And none of it could have been explained more clearly in the last two games that they played.

From comprehensively beating the Gujarat Titans by 99 runs in a complete performance, to falling spectacularly against the Chennai Super Kings in a 103-run defeat at home. Everything went wrong in the most horrific of ways for the Mumbai Indians. From an atrocious powerplay with the bat, to the under-par bowling, and some really baffling captaincy decisions from Hardik Pandya. Bowling 2 overs in the Powerp-lay and going for 38 runs while the rest went for 34 runs combined. And when his experience and nous was needed to bowl the final over, he instead threw the ball to the inexperienced Krish Bhagat, who was promptly dispatched for 18 runs.

The batting seems to be an almighty mess, with all the batsmen suffering from slumps at the same time. Suryakumar Yadav just cannot seem to find his mojo, Quinton de Kock has slowed down after the hundred in his first game, while Hardik has barely contributed with the bat too. It all seems to be rather muddled and mediocre from MI, and that has translated into poor performances on the field.

The sight of their owner walking midway through their sorry batting display was a damning indictment of the situation the Mumbai Indians find themselves in, and they have to get out of it fast, or else the time to take some really difficult decisions will be sooner rather than later.

Sunrisers Hyderabad, on the other hand, are absolutely brimming with confidence after their swashbuckling victory in a high-scoring run chase against the Rajasthan Royals. They are a team that are peaking at just the right time.

While the batting was once again majestic, with Abhishek Sharma and Ishant Kishan continuing their rich vein of form, the biggest positive will be the return of their skipper Pat Cummins in the playing 11 after missing practically the entire first half of the season. Cummins’ return not only galvanises the bowling attack, which has been a little bit of a hit and miss through the season, but he also brings his valuable experience and leadership as captain, which allows the rest of the side to play that much more freely.

MI are again teetering on that thin line between desperation and freefall in the quest to get some sort of consistency in the way they play and approach games, while Sunrisers will be fancying another scalp as they fancy themselves to be a part of what is shaping up to be a multi-horse race for the Playoffs.

We believe that the Sunrisers Hyderabad are favourites in this game and have too much firepower for the Mumbai Indians to handle, plunging them into further misery.
