Barclays joins as Principal Partner
The Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC), the owner of Lord’s Cricket Ground, has announced a new partnership with British bank Barclays, who will join as their Principal Partner and serving as a tier-1 Lord’s sponsor, Barclays will acquire naming rights to the Lord’s media centre, which will be renamed as the Barclays Media Centre. Barclays will also work with the MCC on a host of fan engagement activities at the ground itself.
Barclays will be providing financial investment to the MCC Foundation (official charity of the MCC) as well which will be used to expand the Foundation’s programmes. Barclays will also support MCC’s growth of the women’s cricket.
Rob Lynch, Interim Chief Executive and Secretary of MCC, commented,
“This partnership marks an exciting new chapter for MCC, Lord’s and cricket as a whole. Barclays shares our passion for working for the good of the game and ensuring that as many young people throughout the UK can pick up a bat and ball and take part in our wonderful sport. Their incredible support for the MCC Foundation will help us make cricket more accessible to thousands of young people, fostering the next generation of talent and fans to Lord’s.”
