The New Orleans Pelicans have announced a three-year extension of their deal with free-to-use shopping and cashback rewards platform Ibotta, which will continue as the jersey patch sponsor of the NBA team. The two first partnered in the 2020-21 season.
As per the deal, when using the shopping platform, Ibotta will continue to give Pelicans supporters cashback possibilities on necessities and club apparel. Additionally, both partners will continue collaborating with neighbourhood social outreach programmes to provide over a hundred families in the New Orleans area with free Thanksgiving dinners and exclusive team gear.
The extended collaboration also involves a range of marketing and charitable activities such as the distribution of Thanksgiving meals as well as Ibotta-branded stock at the Smoothie King Center and digital media assets.
Commenting on the extension, Bryan Leach, Ibotta Founder and Chief Executive, said:
“Ibotta’s partnership with the New Orleans Pelicans allows us to raise our profile with millions of NBA fans who are looking to save money on their everyday purchases.
“This past season showcased why we love this team so much. They started off slow – but instead of packing it in and calling it a ‘rebuilding year’, they fought all the way back, made the playoffs, and pushed the top-seeded team in an exciting series. Their success was a testament to the power of sticking together and focusing on what can be achieved through continued hard work, remaining optimistic, and never ever quitting.“
Pelicans President Dennis Lauscha added:
“The jersey patch is one of our most valued and highly visible assets, so it’s essential that the brands we partner with share our spirit, integrity, and love for our fans.
“At home and on the road, Pelicans players, staff, sponsors and fans are family. We look out for each other, and Ibotta fits our innovative culture – so we’re excited to continue our partnership moving forward.“
