NOTABLE CHARITY WORK AND ACTIVISM

  • In October 2019, Rashford partnered with Selfridges, a London-headquartered chain of department stores, to launch the In the Box campaign, which was aimed at supplying homeless people with essential items over Christmas.
  • Since the COVID outbreak, Rashford has established himself as one of the most active and effective activists to support the underprivileged children in the UK. He has already sent shockwaves down the British government with his relentless efforts to end child food poverty in the UK, which has seen multiple government U-turns and millions of young lives helped.
  • Rashford also heavily promotes the importance of literacy amongst children. On the 2020 World Book Day, Rashford joined a campaign to amplify a million stories and agreed to host a poetry competition for children with hearing impairments, for which he also began learning sign language.

In November 2020, he teamed up with Macmillan Publishers to launch a book club that would aim at increasing the literacy rate amongst the underprivileged children by helping them discover the “escapism of reading”. He also released a book titled “You Are A Champion” in April 2021, which he worked on alongside British journalist and broadcaster Carl Anka.

In May 2021, he partnered with London-based National Literacy Trust and Swindon-based books, stationery, magazines, newspapers, entertainment products and confectionery retailer WH Smith to further support children’s literacy across the UK. For every copy of “You Are A Champion” bought, WH Smith pledged to gift a copy to encourage kids to read.
