TITLE FAVOURITES

Jannik Sinner

The Current World No. 1 started the year in superb fashion by winning the Australian Open and a few other ATP Tour titles, though he didn’t do so well in the summer due to injury issues.

However, the Italian is back with a bang, having won the latest ATP Masters Title at the recently-concluded Cincinnati Open by beating Francis Tiafoe in straight sets. Ahead of the 2024 US Open, Sinner looks to be in great form and is a serious contender to win his second Grand Slam title.

Novak Djokovic

The current World No. 2 looks to be in decent form. Even though he had a knee surgery after the French Open earlier in the year, after only a few weeks of recovery he made it to the Wimbledon finals and won an Olympic gold at Paris 2024.

Already labelled as a “Greatest of All Time”, Djokovic is a prime contender to win the 2024 US Open and surpass Margaret Court by winning a record 25th Singles Grand Slam title.

Carlos Alcaraz

The World No. 3 has already become a household name in the world of tennis. At the age of 21, Alcaraz has already won Grand Slams on all surfaces.

This has been a stellar year for Alcaraz, who has won the French Open and Wimbledon while also securing an Olympics silver medal. He is a force to be reckoned with and can very well go all the way at the US Open this year.

TITLE CHALLENGERS

Alexander Zverev

World No. 4 Alex Zverev is another favourite for the 2024 US Open title. The tall and lanky German has a great serve on him and the game to go all the way on the hard courts. He has already made his first Grand Slam final appearance at the French Open earlier this year.

Daniil Medvedev

World No. 5 Daniil Medvedev is another hard-hitting player who has an affinity for the hard courts. He is already a US Open champion (2021) and was a finalist last year.

Medvedev has been one of the most consistent hard-court players for a few years now and has all the tools to repeat his run from 2021 to win his second US Open title this time round.

Alex de Minaur

The World No. 10 started the season well with quarter-final appearances at the Australian Open and Wimbledon. De Minaur is an energetic and quick player who can outrun and outplay his opponents. He already has nine ATP Singles titles to his name and is on the move to improve his record in the Grand Slams. When fully fit, he is a threat to any top-ranked player and can be a serious challenger for the title.

SURPRISE ELEMENTs

Hubert Hurkacz

World No. 7 Hubert Hurkacz is the top-ranked Polish tennis player on the ATP circuit currently. With one of the best serves, he is a hard player to beat. Hurkacz has also been showing improvements in his Grand Slam results of late.

With a game that favours the hard surface at Queens, this can be Hurkacz’ moment in the sun.

Ben Shelton

World No. 13 Ben Shelton was a US Open semi-finalist last year. He had a fabulous tournament, beating on the way fellow Americans Tommy Paul and Francis Tiafoe to his first Grand Slam semi where he lost to Djokovic.

Backed by a vociferous American crowd, Shelton can definitely surprise a lot of people at the 2024 US Open.

Francis Tiafoe

World No. 20 Francis Tiafoe also has the home advantage at the US Open. With the crowd backing him, he can definitely go far in the tournament. Tiafoe has performed consistently this year, and with a recent final appearance at the Cincinnati Open, he’ll be full of confidence.

Jack Draper

World No. 25 Jack Draper is an exciting up-and-coming British player. He has a great serve and a game that suits the hard surface. The Briton can surely surprise a higher-ranked player on his day.

Draper has been making massive improvements over the past year and is one of the many exciting players to watch out for at the US Open this year.

Neha Johri

A dreamer, an avid fiction reader, a foodie and chai lover, firmly believes in the power of manifestation. In love with everything sport, especially the beautiful game!
