Premier League 2024/25: Players to watch out for

In this article, we present to you our top 10 picks for the players to watch out for during the 2024/25 Premier League season.

Christopher Nkunku | CHELSEA FC

Christopher Nkunku joined Chelsea from RB Leipzig ahead of the 2023/24 season, signing a six-year contract. In his first season, however, he had an injury-ridden campaign.

Nkunku has looked good so far this pre-season, though, registering three goals and an assist. He has also played more minutes than any other Blues player this summer.

This can be Nkunku’s breakthrough season like it was for Cole Palmer last time round. His form will also prove crucial for new manager Enzo Maresca as he tries to lead this Chelsea side to perform better and challenge for a higher position in the Premier League table.

OSCAR BOBB | MANCHESTER CITY FC

Oscar Bobb is an exciting young talent who impressed last season. During the recent Community Shield game against Man United, Bobb played superbly and left the Man City faithful in awe.

With Julián Alvarez leaving, the Norwegian is likely to get more opportunities to impress manager Pep Guardiola this season.

AMAD DIALLO | MANCHESTER UNITED FC

Amad may have only made 12 appearances across all competitions last season, but he had his moments, most notably when he scored the winning goal against rivals Liverpool in the FA Cup quarter-final.

Amad has had a noteworthy pre-season this summer, scoring twice in three games off the right wing, prompting many Man United fans to believe he should be a regular starter this season. If Erik ten Hag does show belief in him, the Ivorian will make for an interesting player to watch. He has the ability to perform at the highest level, and this season can be his moment in the sun.

Ryan Gravenberch | LIVERPOOL FC

Ryan Gravenberch signed for Liverpool last summer, though he didn’t get to establish himself in Jürgen Klopp’s midfield last season, with chances few and far between. He made 26 league appearances, of which only 12 were starts, and scored one goal in return.

However, the Netherlands international seems to have impressed Arne Slot in pre-season this summer. He has the technical ability required to play in the double pivot Slot employs, is press-resistant, possesses great dribbling skills on the turn, and can move the ball forward with ease, making him an ideal deep-lying midfield option.

Even if Liverpool do get a defensive midfielder before the market closes, them being back in Europe means Gravenberch can expect several opportunities to showcase his skills and talent, and Slot looks like the manager who can help him unlock his true potential this season.

MORGAN ROGERS | ASTON VILLA FC

Morgan Rogers joined Aston Villa on loan from Middlesborough in January earlier this year and notched up three goals and an assist in his eleven Premier League appearances as Villa qualified for the Champions League.

Based on his impressive outings, Villa signed him permanently this summer. Rogers has been in decent form so far, having provided three goals and two assists in pre-season and played more minutes than any other Villa player.

Rogers is quick and sharp with an eye for goal and likes to keep the ball and get into dangerous positions. A very bright young prospect, Rogers will bolster Villa’s attacking threat alongside the experienced Ollie Watkins.

Riccardo Calafiori | ARSENAL FC

Ricardo Calafiori joined Arsenal in this summer from Bologna of the Italian Serie A. He also featured in the recently-concluded Euros and impressed with his defensive as well as ball-playing abilities.

Calafiori is known for his physicality, marking, and positioning capabilities. He was so impressive in his last season with Bologna that comparisons to the Italian legend Paolo Maldini started making the rounds.

The Gunners already have a strong defensive lineup and had one of the best defensive records in the league last season. So, adding Calafiori to their ranks only makes them even more impervious. Calafiori’s ability on the ball are an added bonus, not to mention the fact that he can make forward runs from the back too. He can turn out to be the kind of signing that finally wins Arsenal the league title.

DAICHI KAMADA | CRYSTAL PALACE FC

Daichi Kamada joined Crystal Palace this summer from Lazio, though it was his stint at Eintracht Frankfurt that made him popular.

Kamada was instrumental in Eintracht Frankfurt winning the 2021/22 Europa League. He also scored thrice in the 2023/24 Champions League group stages, helping his side make the knockouts.

The Japan international is a versatile player who can play both as an attacking midfielder and a forward. He has an eye for goal and possesses great technical ability. Having played under Oliver Glasner before, he is one of the players to watch in the Premier League this season.

YANKUBA MINTEH | BRIGHTON & HOVE ALBION FC

Yankuba Minteh made his move from Newcastle to Brighton earlier this summer, signing a five-year contract.

The Seagulls’ recruitment department has been known to find the best young prospects, and Minteh doesn’t seem like an exception. He has impressed the new Brighton coach, Fabian Hürzeler, during the pre-season and may be handed his Premier League debut against Everton in his side’s season-opener.

The Gambia international is fast, direct, and has superb dribbling skills with strong finishing ability. Having scored three goals in pre-season, the 20-year-old looks to be in decent goal-scoring form too.

ARCHIE GRAY | TOTTENHAM Hotspur FC

Archie Gray moved to Spurs this summer from Leeds United. He caught the eye of the Spurs recruitment after having a great season in the Championship last term, which saw him win the EFL Young Player of the Season award.

The teenager has also impressed Spurs fans this pre-season. A young, talented midfielder who is great to watch in and out of possession, has already decent dribbling skills, and can take out defenders or markers while making quick transitions into the attacking areas, Gray will be interesting to watch under the tutelage of Ange Postecoglou.

CRYSENCIO SUMMERVILLE | WEST HAM UNITED FC

Crysencio Summerville joined West Ham from Leeds United earlier this summer. He played in the Premier League before, for Leeds in the 2021/22 and 2022/23 seasons, but didn’t make much of an impact. However, he had a breakthrough season last time round in the Championship, scoring 21 goals and providing 10 assists, prompting his return to the Premier League.

He is a versatile player who prefers the left wing but can play on the right and in the midfield as well. He likes to play quick one-twos in the attacking third and combine with his teammates rather than playing in a wider position as a conventional winger. He is now part of an exciting Hammers setup and could impress even more this time round.
