Premier League side Southampton FC have announced their first-ever Indian partnership, inking a deal with Thane City FC.
The partnership will see Thane City FC serve as Southampton’s International Academy Partners for the next three years.
Southampton will support Thane City in their development goals, and the Indian club will create a series of opportunities for the Thane City staff and players to work with the Southampton FC coaches via player development programmes.
Southampton Academy’s staff will also be visiting Thane yearly to work with their players, coaches and staff.
Mark Abrahams, Director of Business and Community Development, Southampton FC, commented:
“Our International Academy Partnerships are built on a shared value in coach and player development. We’re delighted to welcome Thane City to the program and look forward to working with their coaching team and the Thane community over the coming years.”
Prashant J. Singh, co-founder of Thane City FC, added:
“This partnership will propel the entire football ecosystem not only in Thane but the entire region. With a residential setup in process, partnering with a club like Southampton was exactly what we needed in terms of expertise, knowledge-sharing, and exchange programs.”
