Top 10 Players out of contract in the Premier League

Neha Johri Neha Johri

As the 2025/26 season is drawing to a close, the summer frenzy is upon us with transfers galore. As new contracts will be drawn up, some old ones will also be coming to an end. The Premier League will already see some big names departing in the summer, a few of whom are at the end of their careers but some might have an opportunity for a last dance at other clubs.

Here’s our list of the Top 10 Premier League players who will be a free agent after their contract ends on 30th June 2026 –

10. James Milner (40 years old, Brighton and Hove Albion)

An epitome of professionalism and longevity, they don’t really make them like James Milner anymore. Tough as nails and a great team man, Milner has been one of a kind. Having won multiple trophies with Manchester City and Liverpool, Milner also represented the England National Team.

The 40-year-old also has the record for most Premier League appearances (657) which doesn’t seem like it would be broken for a while. His contract with Brighton and Hove Albion will end this summer.

While there has been no news of another contract extension, Brighton coach Fabian Hürzeler might consider giving him another extension that keeps him at the club for another year but nothing as such has been agreed yet, hence Milner is on course to depart the Seagulls this summer.

9. Lukasz Fabianski (41 years old, West Ham United)

West Ham’s veteran goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski has been a great servant for the club since joining in 2018.  Fabianski joined the Hammers from Swansea where he had spent four seasons. Previously, he also played for Arsenal and won the FA Cup with them in 2014. Fabianski has over 200 appearances at West Ham over a period of seven years at the club.

Fabianski holds the record for most appearances by a Polish player in the Premier League and was also in contention for the PL Golden Glove in the 2014/15 season.

The veteran shot-stopper from Kostrzyn nad Odr? in Poland will depart the Hammers as he wasn’t offered a contract extension by the Hammers. Whether Fabianski will retire from football or continue to play is not confirmed yet but one thing is certain, the Hammers will definitely miss his experience and leadership at the back.

8. Séamus Coleman (37 years old, Everton)

The longest serving Everton player, Seamus Coleman will leave the club this summer after 17 years of service, having made 433 appearances for the Toffees and captaining the club from Aug 2019 until now.

The Irish left-back has stayed with the club through thick and thin and has also been part of the PFA Team of the Year in the 2013/14 season and won Everton Player’s Player of the Year as well as the Everton Supporters’ Player of the Year awards for the same season.

The ageing fullback has been unlucky with injuries in recent seasons and had been relegated to the bench as Vitaly Mykolenko is the current starting left-back. While there are speculations that he may hang up his boots after the end of the 2025/26 season and may possibly join David Moyes’ coaching staff but his Ireland national team coach Heimir Hallgrimsson is hoping he prolongs his playing career as he still has a lot to give to the national team as well.

7. Kieran Trippier (35 years old, Newcastle United)

English fullback Kieran Trippier is yet another popular Premier League figure that is going to be out of contract this summer. As his contract expires this summer, the 35-year-old right-back is set to leave the Magpies after a fairly successful stint at St. James’ Park which saw him win the Carabao Cup with the Magpies and also help them qualify for Champions League twice.

Trippier has also played at other big Premier League clubs like Manchester City, Tottenham Hotspur and Burnley. Apart from the Premier League, he also played for Spanish giants Atlético de Madrid and won his first major trophy – the LaLiga title in the 2020/21 season.

Trippier isn’t set to retire just yet but there also has been no indication of where he goes next. While having played in foreign leagues, there could be a chance that he goes to another league in Europe. He has been one of the top fullbacks in the league and Newcastle would certainly miss his quality and leadership in the squad.

6. Casemiro (34 years old, Manchester United)

After having won massive silverware with Spanish giants Real Madrid, Brazilian midfielder Casemiro arrived with a huge reputation at Old Trafford ahead of the 2022/23 Premier League season. The transfer fee was also quite exorbitant for a 30-year-old player at a reported £60 million + £10 million in add-ons.

Since then, even though Man United have been underwhelming in the league, he has won domestic silverware with them (League Cup – 2022/23, FA Cup – 2023/24) along with being a Europa League runner-up in the 2024/25 season. Casemiro is a defensive midfielder but has been very dangerous for United in the opposition box, often scoring important goals from set-pieces.

Manchester United announced in January that Casemiro will depart at the end of the 2025/26 season as the two parties have mutually decided not to renew his contract. As per recent reports, Casemiro has supposedly agreed a big money deal with MLS club Inter Miami which will be effective until December 2028.

5. Harry Wilson (29 years old, Fulham)

Former Liverpool academy product, Harry Wilson is also set to depart Fulham after a period of five years. When he joined Fulham on an initial loan move, the Cottagers were in the Championship and they attained promotion the next season and Wilson made a total of 179 appearances for Fulham.

The Welshman has had his best season yet in Fulham colours as he has 16 G/A in 31 appearances and its quite a surprise that Fulham aren’t renewing his contract. The 29-year-old is currently in talks with Fulham over a long-term contract but not much has culminated and as things stand, Wilson could depart Craven Cottage at the end of the ongoing season.

Looking at his development and his performances in the past few seasons, Wilson could be quite a bargain for any Premier League or European club that is able to secure his services.

4. Marcos Senesi (28 years old, Bournemouth)

Bournemouth centre-back Marcos Senesi is another huge player set to depart on a free this summer. Senesi has been a pivotal player in the backline for the Cherries for the past four years. He arrived at Bournemouth ahead of the 2022/23 season from Feyenoord. His contract is set to end after the ongoing season with the 28-year-old not signing a new contract and deciding to move to another club in the summer.

The Argentine centre-back will definitely have a lot of clubs courting him in the summer with reports coming in about Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea all showing interest in him as all these clubs are looking for a top centre-back.

The fact that he is Premier League proven and is great on the ball as well besides being a top defender is a huge advantage and could prove to be another bargain in the upcoming summer transfer window for whichever club secures his signing.

3. Ibrahima Konaté (26 years old, Liverpool)

Liverpool’s French centre-back Ibrahima Konaté is another key player who could possibly depart in the summer with top European clubs interested in his services.

Since joining Liverpool ahead of the 2021/22 season, Konaté has had a successful partnership with Virgil van Dijk at the heart of Liverpool’s defence. He has also won major silverware with Liverpool which includes the FA Cup (21/22), Carabao Cup (21/22, 23/24), Premier League (2024/25) and he has also been a UCL runner-up in the 21/22 season.

Liverpool has been in contract talks with Ibou Konaté for the last 18 months but the club hasn’t been able to find a break-through. There had been rumours that linked him to Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain but there has been no confirmation of their interest.

Konaté and Liverpool have endured a tough Premier League season and are currently fighting for Champions League qualification with the club still holding positive talks with the Frenchman. With no news of a new contract agreement, as of now, Konaté could be one of the many players through the exit doors of Anfield in the summer and we have no doubt that he could have some big clubs waiting in the wings.

2. Andy Robertson (32 years old, Liverpool)

Liverpool’s bargain of the decade, Andy Robertson arrived at Anfield ahead of the 2017/18 season from Hull City on a transfer fee of £8 million and what a signing it turned out to be for Jürgen Klopp and his side. With a new extension not being offered, Robertson is set to depart Liverpool after the completion of the 2025/26 season.

Robertson alongside Trent Alexander-Arnold became one of the best full-back pairings in the Premier League over the past decade and is the second highest assister amongst all the defenders in the league. Robertson has completed football with Liverpool, winning every possible club-level trophy with the Reds in his nine-year stay, having played more than 350 games for the Merseyside Reds.

There have been recent speculations that Robertson has agreed to join Spurs if they manage to stay in the Premier League but with Spurs looking likely to go down, maybe he could move to another club in the league or elsewhere in Europe. Whatever happens, he would leave Liverpool with an undeniable legacy as one of their finest left-backs and a fantastic leader.

1. Bernardo Silva (31 years old, Manchester City)

Bernardo Silva has been one of Man City’s most influential players alongside Kevin de Bruyne and Sergio Aguero in the past decade and City will dearly miss him as he has decided to move on after the 2025/26 season.

Having arrived from Monaco ahead of the 2017/18 season, he has made 451 appearances for the Cityzens, winning multiple Premier Leagues titles (6), League Cups (5), FA Cups (2), UEFA Champions League (2022/23), the FIFA Club World Cup (2023), he will depart the club as a certified legend for his massive contributions to City’s dominance in the Premier League.

He may have gotten slower over the past nine years but Silva has shown this season as well that he is still a force to reckon with and is currently helping Man City chase down Arsenal in an enthralling title-race.

Although his next destination hasn’t been confirmed, there have been rumours linking him with Benfica, Barcelona, Juventus and the Saudi Pro League. Only time will tell where the talented Portuguese midfielder lands but he is definitely going to be an asset for whichever club or league he joins.
