West Indies vs England 1st T20I: Preview and Predictions

Can England bounce back?

After a poor end to the ODI series, England will be looking to bounce back in a format they have been comfortable in for sometime, as the T20I series kicks off. With Jos Buttler back at the helm of things, England will be looking to end their white-ball tour of West Indies on a high.

Ahead of the first T20I here’s our match preview and predictions.

West Indies vs England 1st T20I | England tour of West Indies 2024 | 01:30 IST, November 10

England would want to put the ODI series away quickly and the best way to do that is get back on the field and change the results in their favour. They have just that opportunity and they will be boosted by Jos Buttler’s return and Buttler will count on the likes of Will Jacks, Phil Salt, Jofra Archer, Liam Livingstone, Sam Curran and Adil Rashid to step up as the senior players.

Buttler himself will be key for the visitors with the bat, who had a rough ODI series with the bat and Phil Salt, Will Jack and Liam Livingstone will need to shoulder a lot of responsibility. In the bowling department, Jofra Archer and Adil Rashid will be leading the pack with Reece Topley back in the mix along with the young and exciting Josh Turner and also the upcoming talents like Saqib Mahmood and Jamie Overton.

Rovman Powell, meanwhile, takes charge for the hosts, who have most of the same squad from the ODI series along with a couple of inclusions. Andre Russell and Nicholas Pooran will be the two biggest names joining the hosts with the Windies boasting of an explosive batting lineup with the likes of Evin Lewis, Shai Hope, Brandon King, Shimron Hetmyer, Pooran and Russell with Powell himself being more than handy with the bat.

The Windies also have a host of all-rounders, which means most of their batters can roll their arm over and along with the likes of Akeal Hosein, Gudakesh Motie, Romario Shepherd, they also have Russell, Roston Chase and Rovman Powell who can pitch in whenever needed.

The West Indies vs England T20I will also be the first T20I at Bridgetown since the World Cup 2024 Final and the batters will have to work for their runs on what should be a two-paced pitch. The hosts hold the advantage with a more experienced and stronger squad and are our favourites to start the T20I series with a win.

Fantasy XI: Phil Salt, Evin Lewis, Nicholas Pooran, Liam Livingstone, Shimron Hetmyer, Andre Russell, Sam Curran, Jofra Archer, Adil Rashid, Akeal Hosein, Gudakesh Motie

Venue: Bridgetown

Winners Prediction: West Indies
