Australia vs England 1st T20I | Women’s Ashes 2025 | 13:45 IST, January 20, 2025
Australia’s clean sweep in the ODI series means that they will retain the Ashes should they win the first T20I itself in Sydney. Australia head into the shortest format series with the strongest squad as Alyssa Healy leads from the top with Beth Mooney, Phoebe Litchfield and Ellyse Perry set to be the mainstays in the batting department. Perry along with Ashleigh Gardner and Tahlia McGrath will also be needed to roll the arms over whenever needed while Mega Schutt, Alana King, Annabel Sutherland will be leading the bowling unit.
For the visitors, Heather Knight and her girls have their task cut out to keep the Ashes alive. Knight, Danni Wyatt-Hodge and Sophia Dunkley are the main batters for England with Sarah Glenn, Sophie Ecclestone and Charlie Dean making up a strong spin unit for England.
Moore Park in Sydney has been a low scoring ground and given Australia’s long and strong batting lineup, expect the hosts to come out on top in a close encounter.
