After drubbings in the ODI and T20I series, England will look to end their 2025 Women’s Ashes campaign on a positive note as they take on hosts Australia in the only Test of the tour.
Australia, on the other hand, would want to make it seven wins out of seven and will look to end the Ashes with a big win in the red-ball game.
Ahead of the only Test match of the 2025 Women’s Ashes, here are our match preview and predictions.

The hosts have their captain, Alyssa Healy, set to return from injury, though she will be available only as a batter. Should she return, she will lead the side with the bat along with her experienced partner Beth Mooney. Ellyse Perry and Tahlia McGrath will also be key for the hosts with the bat. While Kim Garth, Annabel Sutherland, and Perry will be the front-line seamers, it will be Ashleigh Gardner and Alana King as the main spinners. Given the Melbourne stripe has always had something for the spinners, the star-studded Australian bowling lineup will have the spotlight on them.
England, on the other hand, have their veteran bowler Kate Cross ruled out, with captain Heather Knight having to turn to Nat Sciver-Brunt, Sophie Ecclestone, Charlie Dean, and Lauren Bell to shoulder responsibility with the ball. Knight, Tammy Beaumont, Sciver-Brunt, and the returning Sophia Dunkley will definitely boost the batting lineup for the visitors.
The MCG has been a ground that brings about a lot of runs but also gives a lot of assistance to the bowlers. The hosts are our favourites for the game, with Healy’s bowlers pipped to run through the English lineup.
Fantasy XI: Beth Mooney, Danni Wyatt-Hodge, Heather Knight, Ellyse Perry, Annabel Sutherland, Ashleigh Gardner, Tahlia McGrath, Lauren Bell, Alana King, Charlie Dean, Sophie Ecclestone
