Women’s Super League Football, the organising body of the top two tiers of women’s club football in England (Women’s Super League and Women’s Super League 2), has announced a multi-year “transformative” partnership with Nike.
The US global sportswear and sports equipment giant has thus become an official partner of the Barclays Women’s Super League, the Barclays Women’s Super League 2, and the Subway Women’s League Cup.
As per the agreement, Nike has pledged to supply football boots and goalkeeper gloves to the BWSL and BWSL2 players who do not have a personal endorsement deal.
Additionally, in a first, the partnership entails production of a branded lifestyle merchandise collection, which will include pre-match tops, t-shirts, and hoodies.
Nike has also pledged to work with WSL Football to “innovate, elevate and create opportunities to drive the women’s game forward and provide more visibility on and off the pitch.”
Zarah Al-Kudcy, Chief Revenue Office, WSL Football, commented:
“We listened to feedback from our players, regarding the boots and gloves, and Nike responded. It is symbolic of our new partnership, which goes above and beyond being the leagues’ ball supplier. Together, we’re striving for a future where every player across our leagues can thrive.“
Stephanie Ankrah, EMEA VP Brand Marketing Women, Nike, added:
“At Nike, we believe in the power of sport to move the world forward. Women’s football is a driving force in that movement, reshaping the game, inspiring communities, and opening doors for the next generation. Our partnership with WSL Football builds on years of supporting athletes at every level, and reflects our continued commitment to expanding access, opportunity, and visibility for all.“
