The Scorchers can go three clear at the top with their sixth title this Sunday, while the Sixers will be looking to add a fourth title to their cabinet.
Here, we present our preview and predictions for the BBL|15 Final between the Scorchers and the Sixers.
BBL|15 Final: Scorchers vs Sixers | 13:45 IST, January 25, 2026
It all boils down to this. One last game to decide who lifts the BBL|15 title, and there couldn’t have been a better duo to tussle it out on Sunday.
Two teams that already share eight BBL titles between them. Two teams that have already squared off against each other in five different BBL finals, with the Scorchers leading the Sixers 3–2 in head-to-head record in BBL finals. Thus, it’s poised to be a humdinger of a contest this weekend.
Paired up against each other in the Qualifier after finishing the league stage inside the top two, table-topping Perth Scorchers hosted second-placed Sydney Sixers at this very ground. Having been asked to bat first, the Scorchers huffed and puffed to 147, but it proved more than enough as the Sixers were bundled out for just 99 inside 15 overs. As a result, the Scorchers will definitely walk into the Final with a fair bit of confidence behind them.
Looking at the Perth Scorchers, the five-time champions have been a machine since the turn of the year, with each department contributing to their cause.
In the batting department, Finn Allen has been the standout performer, scoring 430 runs in ten innings at a strike rate of over 186. Both Aaron Hardie and Mitchell Marsh have crossed the 300-run mark, while the rest of the batters have also chipped in when needed.
Their bowling attack, despite being concerning regarding its potency, has done a fairly good job, especially at home. Cooper Connolly has caught the eye with 15 wickets in nine innings while going at just 6.56 per over, while Hardie and Mahli Beardman have combined for 22 scalps, sharing the load across matches. Getting Jhye Richardson back for the last leg has been a huge boost, while both Joel Paris and David Payne have done an excellent job whenever asked to step in.
As for their opponents, after capitulating against the Scorchers in the Qualifier, the Sydney Sixers thoroughly outplayed defending champions Hobart Hurricanes in the Challenger. Steve Smith was once again the catalyst with the bat, anchoring the innings with 65 runs off 43 balls while the rest of the batters chipped in with aggressive cameos, taking the team score to 198.
With the ball, the Mitchell Starc-led Sixers bowling attack chipped in with regular breakthroughs as the Hurricanes never really got going. However, it was Joel Davis who was adjudged the Player of the Match for his quick-fire 27 off 12 and dismissals of both Nikhil Chaudhary and Matthew Wade in the 12th over.
Therefore, despite the loss in the Qualifier, the Sixers will feel confident that they can go toe-to-toe against the Scorchers at their den this time around.
In terms of weather forecast and pitch report for this game, expect conditions to be cloudy with the possibility of rain interruptions across both innings.
The average first-innings score at Optus Stadium is 165 runs. This season, though, the six games held at this ground produced have totals of 113/5 (11 overs), 150/8, 153/8, 127, 130, and 147/9, proving the pitch doesn’t encourage run-fests. So, anything around the 140–145 mark will make this a very interesting contest.
Looking ahead to this fixture, both the Perth Scorchers and the Sydney Sixers enter this contest high on confidence and will fancy their respective chances of winning the BBL|15 Final.
The Scorchers are firing on all cylinders, with their batters having found form and the bowlers having been excellent at home. The Sixers, on the other hand, will believe that, if their batters can do a respectable job, their bowlers have the firepower to win them this game.
Considering current form and the head-to-head record between the two, we are backing the Perth Scorchers as slight favourites in this contest.
