Formula One 2025: Miami Grand Prix Preview and Predictions

After a week’s break, Formula One action is back as the grid heads to the United States for the 2025 Miami Grand Prix. Oscar Piastri has cemented his name in the Drivers’ Championship battle as we seem to be gearing up for an exciting action-packed season.

For the 2025 Miami Grand Prix, here are our preview and predictions.

Ferrari need to deliver

The Scuderia had another poor weekend in Saudi Arabia. Even though Charles Leclerc finished on the podium, it was a poor Saturday from new signing Lewis Hamilton. The seven-time World Champion wasn’t able to deliver on Sunday either, managing only a P7 finish.

Ferrari not being able to capitalise on the weekends where Red Bull have had just one car finish is hurting them. They are now 11 points behind Red Bull, lying fourth in the Constructors’ Championship.

Ferrari have had the second fastest car on most weekends this season, but old avoidable errors continue plaguing them. With Red Bull not being the dominant force anymore and Mercedes fielding a rookie driver, the Scuderia need to maximise their advantage and deliver week in, week out.

Hamilton has his task cut out, though he obviously possesses the skills and experience Ferrari are hoping to leverage. As for Leclerc, he has had two podium finishes out of the three races that have taken place in Miami. With this being a Sprint weekend, the Italian team need to leave Florida with as many points as they can to get back in the fight for the Constructors’ Championship.

Pole position prediction: Lando Norris / Charles Leclerc
Race winners prediction: McLaren / Ferrari

One-man army again?

Red Bull sit third in the Constructors’ Championship with 89 points, 87 of which have arrived courtesy of the reigning World Champion, Max Verstappen. To say that Red Bull are being carried by Verstappen singlehandedly as the second seat fails to deliver wouldn’t be too much of a stretch.

Red Bull started the season with Liam Lawson partnering Verstappen, but the Kiwi’s poor performances sent him back to VCARB, with Yuki Tsunoda promoted to the senior Red Bull outfit. Tsunoda made his debut for Red Bull at the Japanese Grand Prix. In the three races he’s taken part in for the Austrian team, he’s scored two points, which arrived at the Bahrain Grand Prix.

Red Bull know they don’t have the fastest car on the grid anymore, with the likes of McLaren, Ferrari, and Mercedes proving quicker than them. If they want to lead the Constructors’ Standings, they need Tsunoda to deliver a good haul of points and support Verstappen. The young Japanese driver got his first points finish at Miami last year and will be hoping to be back in the points this weekend.

Haas maximising

Haas have been amongst the biggest gainers so far this season. Their new pairing of Esteban Ocon and Oliver Bearman has started the season in stellar fashion, resulting in the American team sitting pretty in sixth place in the Constructors’ Standings, having picked up 20 points from the first five races. Ocon’s P5 finish in China has been Hass’ best finish so far this season.

Along with Williams, Haas have taken massive upward strides from the bottom of the grid over the past couple of seasons—finally making good use of that strong Ferrari engine. Bearman, in his first full season in Formula One, has thoroughly impressed with points on three occasions. If he and Ocon can get their act together on Saturdays, Haas should be in for a good haul of points each race weekend.

Miami will be a Sprint race, with more points up for grabs. Haas. therefore, will be looking to close in on—maybe even overtake—Williams in the Constructors’ Standings. Expect Haas to fare well and leave Miami with a good haul of points.

Dark Horses: Haas / Williams
