The first semi-final of UEFA Euro 2024 saw Spain complete a remarkable first-half comeback to defeat France by a one-goal margin, thus booking their place in the competition’s final.

Spain have certainly been among the better teams in this competition and provided fans with some exciting, attacking football. After continuing their offensive style of play in this match, La Roja fell behind to an eighth-minute Randal Kolo Muani goal, which came against the run of play.
However, the goal barely seemed to affect the Spaniards, who continued playing their way and soon found the equaliser through a sensational strike from outside the box from Lamine Yamal in the 21st minute, who thus became the youngest goal-scorer in Euro history. Only four minutes later, Dani Olmo’s brilliant piece of footwork and a shot from a tight angle went into the net to put Les Bleus a goal behind.
France never seemed to have a consistent spell of pressure on the Spain goal after going behind. Even their main man, Kylian Mbappé, only managed a few half-chances, which he failed to put away.
Overall, Spain enjoyed 59% possession and took six shots, three fewer than their opponents, while finding the target twice as compared to France’s three.
Spain will play the final on Sunday, July 14, against either England or the Netherlands.
