Olympic champion joins as co-owner.
Global sporting icon and Olympics legend Usain Bolt has joined Irish esports organisation WYLDE as its co-owner.
As co-owner, Bolt will be working towards WYLDE’s mission to identify, empower and support upcoming talents while working on the principles of diversity and inclusivity. Bolt will also work on multiple activities to elevate WYLDE’s brand visibility.
Founded in 2020 by Steve Daly and David Cronin, WYLDE today boasts of rosters in Rainbow Six Siege, Valorant, FIFA and Rocket League. Last year, the firm had launched an academy to develop upcoming talents by hosting community tournaments, providing coaching to the young talents and hosting numerous bootcamps across Europe. With Bolt on-board, WYLDE will also be hosting a bootcamp in Jamaica later in 2022.
Speaking about his new role, Usain Bolt commented:
“WYLDE is on a journey to becoming one of the biggest brands in the fastest growing sport in the world. In esports, like in track and field, it’s critical to have that competitive, winning mentality.
“I look forward to working with the WYLDE leadership team to help our players to reach their potential, while also taking care of their physical and mental wellbeing.”
David Cronin, Co-founder of WYLDE, added:
“Usain coming on board takes WYLDE to the next level. With his vast competitive experience and Olympic-winning mentality, his guidance will be invaluable as we continue to build professional structures to support the development of our players.”
