Delwyn Serrao Delwyn Serrao

We are just over a week away from the start of the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, where 32 teams will compete over the course of a month to earn the title of the best club in the world.

Here, we turn our focus to the penultimate group of the tournament.

FIFA Club World Cup 2025 Group G Teams

  • Al Ain FC (UAE | AFC)
  • Juventus FC (Italy | UEFA)
  • Manchester City FC (England | UEFA)
  • Wydad AC (Morocco | CAF)

How did each club qualify?

Al Ain punched their ticket to this competition by winning the AFC Champions League during the 2023/24 season, fulfilling the condition of winning their confederation’s premier club competition during the 2021–24 cycle.

Juventus qualified for the competition as one of the highest-ranked sides in UEFA’s coefficient table for the 2021–24 cycle.

Man City won the UEFA Champions League in 2022/23 en route to a historic treble, which also secured them a spot at the inaugural CWC.

Finally, Wydad are in the tournament courtesy of winning the 2021/22 CAF Champions League.

Brief overview of each team

Man City are one of the best teams in world football. With a squad full of superstars in every position, they will want to show that they’re still good for silverware after a rare season that saw them finish without a major trophy for the first time in eight years. The likes of Erling Haaland, Phil Foden, Omar Marmoush, Ederson, and Bernardo Silva will push forward the Sky Blues’ charge at the tournament.

Juventus are next in line in terms of quality on paper. While a stop-start Serie A campaign saw them sack head coach Thiago Motta midway through the season, they did manage to secure a UEFA Champions League spot for next season and have enough quality in the likes of Kenan Yildiz, Dušan Vlahovic, and Teun Koopmeiners to mount a serious challenge.

Al Ain, meanwhile, will be counting on their forward duo of Soufiane Rahimi and Kodjo Fo-Doh Laba, both of whom have been among the goals this season.

Finally, Wydad will look to the leadership and experience of former Morocco international Nordin Amrabat, hoping that their stop-and-go league form does not come to define their first major tournament on the global stage.

Who makes it out of Group G?

This group seems rather straightforward in terms of which teams will move on to the next round. Juve and Man City are way too strong and a significant step up from the level of opposition the other two teams face in their respective leagues.

We back Manchester City to go through as group winners and Juventus as runners-up.
