Pierre Gasly’s wins his first F1 for Italian based AplhaTauri at Italian Grand Prix 2020 to become the first Frenchman to win this race in 30 years after Olivier Panis. The 24-year-old Gasly beat Mclaren’s Carlos Sainz in the nail-biting race.

Lance Stroll finished third for Racing Point, winning his second career podium, with Lando Norris fourth in the second McLaren. The race took a dramatic twist after Lewis Hamilton‘s costly 10-second penalty for illegally entering the pit lane. The Mercedes’s six-time champion fell back to seventeen after starting on pole. He finished seventh and his teammate Valteri Bottas finished fifth.

The standing restart from the grid after the race was red-flagged set up a thrilling seventeen car sprint and a glimpse of what a reverse-grid race could look like. The race was stopped at halfway due to Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc crash into the tyre wall. His teammate Sebastian Vettel had already retired with brake failure. Red Bull’s Max Verstappen also retired before the standing restart due to mechanical problems.

Renault’s Daniel Ricciardo finished sixth while his teammate Esteban Ocon came eighth. The second AlphaTauri driver Daniil Kvyat finished ninth with Racing Point’s Sergio Pérez coming tenth.
