LaLiga side announce two-year deal with online gambling company.

Reigning LaLiga champions Atlético Madrid have announced a two-year global partnership with online gambling brand Betway on Tuesday. Betway will also serve as the international betting partner of the club in all regions except Spain and Asia.

The deal will see Betway get pitch-side branding on the LED advertising boards at the club’s Wanda Metropolitano Stadium. Along with pitch-side branding, Betway will also receive access to Atlético’s players for promotional purposes, such as social media and digital content.

The Malta- and Guernsey-based gambling firm hopes to gain international exposure from the Atlético Madrid partnership.

Speaking about the partnership, Betway’s CEO, Anthony Werkman, said:

We’re incredibly proud to become the official sports betting partner of the current LaLiga champions, Atlético de Madrid. We’re excited to have an agreement with one of the biggest clubs involved in both LaLiga and the Champions League; two of the most viewed sporting competitions around the world. With a team full of internationally recognized names, this partnership will gain further exposure for our brand that has an ambitious global vision.

Atlético Madrid’s Commercial Director, Iñigo Aznar, also spoke about the club’s plans with Betway:

We are very keen with our partnership with Betway outside of Spain. It is a top global player in its sector which will represent an important support to the Club’s international expansion strategy. We look forward to starting to work together and make this partnership a great success for both Betway and Atlético de Madrid.

Betway recently has also signed a three-year deal with Bundesliga side VfB Stuttgart, joining as a Premium Partner. Previously, Betway has also served as a Principal Sponsor to Spanish sides Deportivo Alavés, CD Leganés and Levante UD.

Outside football, Betway has also added NBA teams Brooklyn Nets, Chicago Bulls, Cleveland Cavaliers, Los Angeles Clippers and Golden State Warriors to its sponsorship portfolio in 2021.
