There’s no shortage of action in the cricketing world as action shifts to the 2024 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, which is taking place in the UAE with Bangladesh acting as the official hosts.

We have Bangladesh taking on Scotland in the opening game of the World Cup, and as we get ready for the game, here are our match prediction and preview.

Women’s T20 WC 2024 Match 1: Bangladesh vs Scotland | 15:30 IST, October 3

This is the first time Scotland have made a World Cup proper in the women’s game, and they come into the tournament on the back of a morale-boosting win in the warm-up game against Pakistan.

Scotland will be taking on a Bangladesh team that have gotten the better of them in all their previous meetings, though what works for Scotland is that the Asian team have not won a T20 World Cup game since 2014.

Bangladesh are the ones holding the advantage here, however, with plenty of experience in their camp with the likes of Nigar Sultana, Nahida Akter, and Murshida Khatun, while there are also some promising youngsters such as Rabeya Khan, Disha Biswas, and Dilara Akter who will have eyes on them throughout the tournament.

On a relatively low-scoring Sharjah pitch, the Bangla Tigresses are the favourites to start the tournament with a big win. Expect in particular their spinners to have a promising outing.
