Day 6 of the 2024 Paris Olympics saw the US enjoy a medal rush, which catapulted them to second place in the medals tally. They won Gold medals in Women’s Overall Gymnastics, Women’s Foil, Women’s 200m breaststroke, and Men’s Rowing.

India continued to shine in shooting as Swapnil Kusale bagged a bronze in the Men’s 50M 3 positions rifle event. This is the third medal for India, with the other two also coming from Shooting.
In another news, Sift Kaur Simra and Anjum Moudgil failed to qualify further in the Women’s 50M 3 positions rifle event—a disappointing result as Samra was hailed as a medal prospect, give she’s the current world record holder.

India Men lost 2-1 to Tokyo gold-medallists Belgium in their Group Stage game despite playing well till the end. They play Australia in their next encounter tomorrow.

Praveen Jadhav lost 6-0 in his 1/32 Individual Eliminations game against WC Kao of China, ending all prospects of an Indian Men’s Individual Archery medal at the Paris Olympics.
Paris Olympics 2024: BOXING
50KG Women’s Category: In another disappointing result, India’s ace boxer and two-time World Champion Nikhat Zareen lost 5-0 to China’s top-ranked Wu Yu.
Paris Olympics 2024: ATHLETICS
In the 20KM Walk Men, India’s Vikash Singh and Paramjeet Singh finished a disappointing 30th and 37th, respectively, while Akashdeep Singh withdrew after 6 km. The race was won by Ecuador’s Brian Daniel Pintado.
In the 20KM Walk Women, India’s Priyanka Goswami finished 41st. China’s Yang Jiayu won the gold medal.

Men’s dinghy: Vishnu Saravanan is at 34th position after the second race, with eight more races to go. Top 10 athletes after Race 10 will qualify for the medals race.
Women’s dinghy: Nethra Kumanan is at sixth position after the second race.
Paris Olympics 2024: GOLF
In the Men’s Individual event Round 1, India’s Shubankar Sharma has ended the day at 29th position. Round 2 will begin tomorrow. Hideki Matsuyama of Japan is leading after Round 1.
Paris Olympics 2024: BADMINTON
Men’s Doubles: India’s hopes were dashed as Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty, one of the favourites to win a medal, crashed out in the Quarter Final. They lost 21-13, 14-21,16-21 to Malaysian pair Aaron Chia and Soh Wooi Yik.
Men’s Singles: Lakshya Sen defeated compatriot HS Prannoy in the Round of 16 in a one-sided affair. He won in straight sets 21-12, 21-6.
Women’s Singles: PV Sindhu’s hopes of a third consecutive Olympic medal were dashed as she lost her Round of 16 match to China’s He Bingjiao in straight sets by 19-21 ,14-21.
