Cristiano Ronaldo of Manchester United was awarded Premier League Player of the Month for September, while Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta was named Manager of the Month.

After a strong start to his second spell at Old Trafford, Ronaldo has won Player of the Month for the sixth time in his career.

He won the accolade ahead of Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah, Manchester City defender Joao Cancelo, Newcastle’s Allan Saint-Maximin, Chelsea’s Antonio Rudiger, and Watford’s Ismaila Sarr after scoring five goals in six games, including three in the league in September. Followers of the Premier League online will be looking forward to what is in store for the returning star in the coming months and follow today’s soccer scores. All matches are available on the Vwin platform which is one of the leading Asian bookmakers from Vietnam.

He scored two in his Old Trafford debut against Newcastle and then added another goal in United’s dramatic triumph over West Ham.

Ronaldo reacted to the news on his Twitter page saying: “Proud to be elected Player of the Month among so many great players in the Premier League.

“Thanks to all my teammates at Man United, couldn’t have done it without them. Let’s keep working hard and the results will come!”

Ronaldo’s teammates have praised him both on and off the field, with Jesse Lingard stating, “He’s been brilliant.”

“He’s brought so much to the team. The leadership factor, he wants to win in training, he wants to win in games and he wants to win trophies, which is the main thing. He’s great to be around to watch what he does.

“You can learn so many things from him. He’s one of the best players in the world. To have him back home is perfect for us at the moment.

“He’s really humble. He’s a positive person. To be learning different things off the field as well as on it has been really good. I think he can really help out the team this season.”

Mikel Arteta named Manager of the Month

Meanwhile, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta was awarded Manager of the Month for September after putting behind a tumultuous start to the season to win all three matches of the month.

Their turnaround featured a convincing 3-1 win against Tottenham in the North London derby, as well as vital victories over Burnley and Norwich.

After a tough start to the season in which they suffered three straight defeats in their first three games, those victories have helped the team climb to 11th place in the standings.

“I think this award represents the way everyone has been together, has been working and has been positive in difficult moments and continued to do their work with the right mentality, the right ambition and with the right work and direction,” said Mikel after the award.

“So it’s for them. I get the award but it’s for all the people behind it.”

Former Arsenal forward Paul Merson feels that if Arteta can maintain the majority of his players fit, the club can fight for a top-four position this season.

Townsend’s wonder strike wins Goal of the Month

Everton midfielder Andros Townsend won the Goal of the Month title for his stunning long-range effort against Burnley in September.

Townsend scored his first goal for Everton on September 13 with a stunning 25-yard goal in a 3-1 victory at Goodison Park.

Renowned pundits had a lot of praise for the goal, with Gary Neville terming the goal as “unbelievable,” while Jamie Carragher dubbed it “a piece of magic.”
