The opening match of the 2022 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup saw the USA beat India 8-0 in a one-sided contest.

After the game, it was discovered that the shipment of boots intended for the Indian team had arrived late and that several players had worn their new boots straight out of the box since they had not been given the luxury of time to break them in.

The U-17 women’s squad received an apology from the general secretary of the AIFF, Dr Shaji Prabhakaran, for the delayed delivery of the footwear, according to reports. The shipment’s delay was attributed to a specific batch of boots being shipped via road.

When AIFF representatives visited with the team during the fourth week of September, the request for footwear was made. According to Prabhakaran, “The person responsible would be held accountable for this serious lapse.”

According to reports, the All India Football Federation (AIFF) will launch an investigation on the late arrival of four members of the FIFA Women’s U-17 World Cup squad’s footwear.
