Cricket Australia finds new sponsor in Origin Energy
Cricket Australia, the country’s governing body for cricket, has announced a three-year partnership with Origin Energy, bringing the Sydney-based energy retailer on board as a Platinum Partner.
Origin Energy will thus sponsor Australia’s men’s and women’s national cricket teams, as well as the Big Bash League (BBL) and the Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL). It will also support grassroots cricket in the country by providing annual financial contributions to the Australian Cricket Infrastructure Fund, thereby helping local clubs “in reducing their energy expenses by installing solar panels, batteries, and energy management solutions.”
As part of branding rights, Origin Energy’s logo will be present on the matchday shirt sleeves of Australia’s men’s and women’s national teams across all three formats of the game on home soil. Its logo will also feature alongside the Power Surge mechanism throughout the WBBL and BBL seasons.
Todd Greenberg, Chief Executive, Cricket Australia, commented:
“Origin joins Australia’s national sport during the biggest international season in our history and their commitment to cricket will help us grow the game further. We’re particularly pleased Origin’s involvement with the game will extend to community cricket with their contribution to the Australian Cricket Infrastructure Fund providing energy solutions and potential savings for local clubs.”
Pat Cummins, Australia captain, said:
“Through Cricket for Climate, we’ve been working to future-proof local clubs with solar, battery and education solutions. This partnership between Cricket Australia and Origin will help us take that mission further, bringing clean energy solutions to community cricket right across the country, like our recently announced partnership with Blacktown City Council. I’m pleased Origin has chosen to support Australian cricket.”
Phoebe Litchfield, Australia international, stated:
“We’re really grateful Origin is getting behind Australian cricket and especially the women’s national team and the WBBL. It’s great to hear Origin is also backing community cricket clubs and volunteers who nurture the stars of tomorrow.”
Frank Calabria, CEO, Origin Energy, added:
“We’re looking forward to supporting our men’s and women’s national teams, the family-friendly Big Bash Leagues, and sharing our expertise in energy in a way that delivers meaningful benefits to grassroots clubs, participants and fans.”
