Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s is now the face of artisanal chocolates, a food and beverage start-up of 7InkBrews, of which the former India captain is also a shareholder. Mohit Bhagchandani founded the firm with Adil Mistry and Kunal Patel as co-founders.
The company has launched a new range of chocolates and beverages (both non-alcoholic and alcoholic); under the brand name of Copter7. The brand name is inspired by Dhoni’s favorite helicopter shot and his jersey number – 7.
MS Dhoni said: “When you believe so strongly in the vision of a company, it makes the association that much more meaningful. I am truly elated to be a shareholder and brand ambassador for a company like 7Ink Brews.”
Speaking on the association, Mohit Bhagchandani, founder and managing director, 7Ink Brews and Copter7 says, “Copter7 embodies the heart and drive of a champion. The most striking quality about Dhoni, among many, is his undying ‘can’t stop, won’t stop’ spirit. We want to offer a range of products that are consistently classic and authentic, and we can’t think of anyone with more appeal than Dhoni.”
7Ink Brews has collaborated on the chocolates with a renowned chocolatier and chef David Belo of Mysore-based artisan chocolate brand Naviluna.
The company said in a statement: “Using sustainably-grown cacao sourced from Southern India, these bean-to-bar chocolates are all-organic, vegan and GMO-free, allowing you to appreciate the qualities of the Indian cacao bean in its full glory.”
The brand will first go live in Mumbai, Pune, Goa, and Bangalore in the first phase. Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Jharkhand, Punjab, and Chandigarh will be added in the coming months. These products are enthusiastically formulated in India, holding foreign tastebuds in view. They are inspired by the proud call of ‘Make in India.’
The company has now earned over USD7 million as a start-up, and it is aiming to raise another USD15 million to fund its domestic and foreign growth plans. This will also include expanding into other territories both domestically and globally.
