PGL has announced that the first-ever Counter-Strike 2 (CS2) Major will be held in Copenhagen, Denmark, between March 17 and 31, 2024.
It was recently announced that the Paris Major 2023 would be the final Major played on Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS:GO).
The Royal Arena in Copenhagen will be hosting the first Major in 2024, which will be PGL’s third Counter-Strike Major.
PGL previously hosted the Stockholm Major in 2021, which was the most-watched CS:GO tournament of all time, and the Antwerp Major in 2022 — the largest indoor esports event ever.
The Copenhagen Major will have 24 of the world’s best teams fighting it out for a prize pool of US$1,250,00. Along with it being the first-ever Major in Denmark, the event will also have its winner hold the bragging rights of having won the first-ever CS2 Major.
Silviu Stroie, PGL CEO, commented:
“One of the greatest games of all time is marching to another chapter, and we couldn’t be happier to host probably the most important Major of the franchise in recent years. Denmark has a rich esports heritage, and we are excited to bring the world’s best Counter-Strike teams to Copenhagen to compete for the game’s most prestigious title. Our ambition for PGL CS2 Major Copenhagen 2024 is to break the game’s all-time viewership records.“
