All ten teams have lineups locked in with multiple debutants set to have their taste of the highest quality of motor-racing
With VCARB announcing that Isack Hadjar would be replacing the Red Bull-headed Liam Lawson for the next season, we finally have the confirmed full grid for the Formula One 2025 season.
Of course, the biggest driver move is Lewis Hamilton’s move to Ferrari with all eyes surely set to be glued on the seven-time world champion. We will also have Kimi Antonelli, Liam Lawson, Jack Doohan and Oliver Bearman in their full debut seasons.
Here’s a look at the driver lineups for all of the Formula One teams for the F1 2025 season.
Red Bull
Max Verstappen
The quadruple-defending World Champion comes into the 2025 on the back off a hard-fought title defence in 2024 against Lando Norris and Max Verstappen should be in for another long and rough season if not more hardships. With McLaren, Ferrari and Mercedes taking giant steps towards the front of the grid, Verstappen and Red Bull will have their task cut out.
After joining Red Bull in 2016, when he took the world by storm in his debut race for the Austrian squad, Verstappen slowly became the team’s talisman over the next few seasons before taking his first world title in a tightly contested season against Lewis Hamilton in the 2021 season. The Dutchman dominated the next two seasons in 2022 and 2023, defending his title in a commanding manner before facing his first real title defence in the 2024 season. While McLaren should’ve won both championships, Verstappen showcased why he is an all-time great to hold on to his title but Red Bull have fallen behind in the battle in the front of the grid. While Verstappen will still go into the new season as the defending champion and a favourite, it will be a difficult season for the Dutchman.
Liam Lawson
Kiwi driver Liam Lawson has been part of the Red Bull junior team since 2019. After finishing third in the Formula 2 2022 season, Lawson also served as a Reserve and Test driver for AlphaTauri and Red Bull the same season.
Lawson made his debut at the Dutch Grand Prix 2023, standing in for the injured Daniel Ricciardo and finished P13. He further raced in four more races that season, in place of Ricciardo, finishing 9th at the Singapore Grand Prix 2023, to score his first points. Lawson moved back to his reserve role once Ricciardo was fit and returned. He was back on the grid mid-way through the 2024, once again for Ricciardo but this time under different circumstances as Ricciardo was dropped after a string of poor performances. He saw out the 2024 season with Racing Bulls putting in a couple of strong drives which eventually earned him a call up to the Red Bull team for the 2025 season to partner reigning World champion, Max Verstappen. 2025 will be Lawson’s first full-season in F1.
Ferrari
Charles Leclerc
Ferrari’s golden boy, the one whom the team have invested heavily in, Charles Leclerc enters his seventh season with the Italian team and this time he will have a new teammate, in the seven-time World Champion, Lewis Hamilton. Leclerc who stunned the world in his debut season at Ferrari, getting the better of his decorated then-teammate Sebastian Vettel, has slowly become the team’s No.1 man as the Maranello- based team looks to win their first title in almost two decades.
Leclerc has grown from being just a talented fast driver to a mature and capable team leader but if he wants to write his name into the Ferrari history books, he needs to take that extra step to become a champion and there will be no better time to test himself than against one of the sport’s all time greats if not the greatest. Leclerc has already come out on top against a former multiple world champion teammate and it remains to be seen if he can do it again or not against Hamilton.
Lewis Hamilton
The seven- time World Champion and one of the best to race in the sport, Lewis Hamilton made his highly anticipated move to Ferrari earlier this year and spending more than a decade with Mercedes that brought him six World Titles. Even though he might be nearing his 40s, the British star still has it in him to get on the top step of the podium whenever he has a car which can fight, which he showed in the 2024 season as well. While it was a tough season for Hamilton personally, he moves to the iconic Italian team at a time when the Scuderia has slowly moved back to fighting for the championships after a tough couple of seasons.
Hamilton will be paired up with Ferrari’s golden boy Charles Leclerc to form what should be an explosive duo. Hamilton has previously had a tight equation with teammates who have also been battling for the win rather than playing second-fiddle so it remains to be seen how the veteran champion goes about his business at the Scarlet Red team. Hamilton has won world championships at McLaren and Mercedes and now not only has a chance to win with the iconic Ferrari but also create history by becoming the most decorated driver in the history of the sport with eight titles.
Mercedes
George Russell
British driver George Russell will be taking up the role of the team leader in what will be his fourth season with the Silver Arrows with Hamilton’s departure to Ferrari. Russell, who won the GP3 series in 2017 and followed it up with a championship winning season in his debut Formula 2 season made his Formula One debut with Williams Racing in 2019.
While the Williams machinery was one of the slowest on the grid, Russell continued to put the Williams much ahead of where it should have finished. A podium with Williams in 2021 saw him help the team avoid a bottom of the table finish and Russell replaced Valtteri Bottas at Mercedes in 2022 to partner with Lewis Hamilton. He took his first career win São Paulo Grand Prix 2022 and has stepped on the top of the podium a further two times.
With Hamilton leaving the Silver Arrows, Russell now will have to take the reins as the talisman as he will be partnering the young and inexperienced Andrea Kimi Antonelli.
Kimi Antonelli
Kimi Antonelli, the 18-year old Italian racer, will be joining the Formula One grid after an incredible junior series record. The talented youngster has an Italian F4 Championship, ADAC Formula 4 Championship, FIA Motorsport Games Formula 4 Cup, Formula Regional Middle East Championship and Formula Regional European Championship titles under his belt and his talent was something that the Mercedes team did not want to let slip through their fingers.
Mercedes signed Antonelli as a Test Driver in 2024 and the youngster will be making his Formula One debut in 2025 for the Silver Arrows beside George Russell.
McLaren
Oscar Piastri
The young Australian, who has two full seasons under his belt, helped McLaren win their first Constructor’s Championship in 25 years as Piastri continued to impress at the biggest stage. After making his debut in the Formula One 2023 season, Piastri took home his first race win in 2024 and even troubled his more experienced teammate, Lando Norris, on multiple occasions. Piastri won two races in the 2024 season which saw him finish a brilliant 4th in Championship ahead of many veteran drivers such as Lewis Hamilton and Carlos Sainz amongst others.
The Australian is contracted with the team until the end of the 2026 season and has already shown that he’s got what it takes to race and beat the big boys. Piastri is one of the most talented young drivers to have entered the sport in a long long time and has brilliant race craft, which is evident from the success he has so early on in his career. After a controversial contract termination with Alpine, Piastri didn’t let it affect his on track performance in his debut season and continues to impress. With two strong drivers in the mix, McLaren are once again front runners for the Constructor’s Championship for the upcoming season.
Lando Norris
After making his debut in the 2019 season for McLaren, Lando Norris has seen his career just go up and up and the British driver has slowly cemented himself as one of the best drivers on the grid currently. While McLaren didn’t have a championship contender in Norris’ early seasons with the team, the British team has been able to come leg for race wins in the last few seasons and Norris has made the most of that.
McLaren took major steps in 2024, making the most of Red Bull’s struggles to have the fastest car on the grid for the majority of the season, which gave Norris his first shot at a title chance. While the nerves got to him at certain occasions, the title loss from 2024 would have made the Brit a better driver as after a Constructor’s winning season, Norris would now want to take home his maiden Driver’s title. Norris has already proven that he can hang with the likes of Verstappen, Leclerc and Hamilton and even beat them on his day and heading into the new season, Lando Norris is one of the favourites to take home the Driver’s Championship.
Aston Martin
Fernando Alonso
In what will be his 22nd season in Formula One, the sport’s most experienced driver, Fernando Alonso will continue to lead the charge for British team Aston Martin. Having made his debut way back in 2001 with Minardi, the double world champion has raced for some of Formula One’s most iconic teams, such as Renault, McLaren and Ferrari.
After winning back-to-back titles with Renault in 2005 and 2006, Alonso made a big move to partner a rookie Lewis Hamilton at McLaren for the 2007 season. After being pushed to the limit by Hamilton, Alonso returned to Renault in 2008, where he spent two more years before moving to Ferrari. He came agonisingly close, twice as he finished second in the Driver’s Championship in 2010 and 2012 in a bid for his third World Title. After a couple of underwhelming seasons with McLaren between 2015-2018, Alonso walked away from the sport at the end of the 2018 season to try other forms of racing. He made a comeback in 2021 with Alpine, 20 years after his debut, and was immediately impressive. 2023 saw Aston Martin start the season strong as Alonso racked up 8 podium finishes in the season on way to a fourth place finish in the Driver’s Standings. Aston Martin failed to live up to their 2023 form as they fell down the grid in 2024 but with the iconic Adrian Newey joining the team, the team should be one to look out for especially with the old horse Alonso still able to showcase his magic when he has a car worthy of his talent.
Lance Stroll
Canadian driver and son of Aston Martin boss Lawrence Stroll, Lance Stroll will be driving in his ninth full season in Formula One as he gets ready to partner the veteran Fernando Alonso for yet another season. After an impressive debut from Stroll with Williams in 2017, Stroll moved from Williams to Racing Point in 2019 after his father led the consortium to keep the team afloat.
Stroll’s time with Racing Point and the Aston Martin, as it was rebranded to, has been underwhelming to say the least as barring an impressive 2020 season, where he scored two podiums, Stroll has failed to live up to his expectations from his time at Williams. While there were calls for his head at Aston Martin, Stroll remains on the grid for another season and should Adrian Newey be able to provide the team with a proper challenger, Stroll will be desperate for a strong season, not only for his team but personally as well to shut out the critics.
Alpine
Pierre Gasly
Yet another Red Bull academy member, Pierre Gasly made his Formula One debut with Toro Rosso for the final few races of the 2017 season. After a consistent season with the sister Red Bull team, Gasly was promoted to the Red Bull team in 2019 but failed to handle the pressure which saw Red Bull send him back to the sister team mid-season in 2019.
Gasly answered his critics in style, taking a stunning win at the Italian Grand Prix 2020 and helped AlphaTauri (previously Toro Rosso) become a solid midfield contender over the next few seasons. Gasly parted ways with the Red Bull system in 2023, as the French driver moved to the French team, Alpine. While he hasn’t been able to get on the top of the podium in his two seasons at Alpine, he’s provided the team with 2 podiums across the two seasons and has been locked in as the team’s lead driver moving ahead. Gasly will partner the debutant Jack Doohan at Alpine in 2025 and it remains to be seen if he can continue to lead the team up the midfield table.
Jack Doohan
Jack Doohan has racing in his blood as the son of motorcycle racing world champion, Mick Doohan, is set to make his full-season Formula One debut with Alpine in 2025. Doohan, who finished third in the Formula 3 championship in 2021 and then third in the Formula 2 championship in 2023, has been a Reserve and Test driver of Alpine since 2023.
His performances in the junior categories got him a call up with Alpine as he was set to replace the departing Esteban Ocon in the French team. With Ocon leaving the team even before the 2024 season got over, Doohan made his Formula One debut at the season finale of the 2024 season at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. The young Australian qualified 20th but managed to finish P15 in his first race on the biggest stage. Doohan will be partnering the experienced Gasly with Alpine hoping that their dynamic duo helps them fight up the midfield battles.
Haas
Oliver Bearman
Partnering Ocon at Haas will be debutant Oliver Bearman who will be racing in his first full-season in Formula One after three substitute appearances in the 2024 season. A member of the Ferrari Academy, Bearman finished third in the Formula 3 championship in 2022 before joining the Ferrari team as a Reserve Driver in 2024.
Bearman was also announced as a Reserve Driver for Haas the same season with him making his Formula One debut with Ferrari at the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix 2024 in place of the injured Carlos Sainz. Racing as the youngest ever driver for Ferrari, Bearman qualified a brilliant 11th before holding off the much experienced Lando Norris and Lewis Hamilton to finish a stunning 7th on debut. Haas shortly after, signed Bearman on a multi-year contract starting from the 2025 season. Bearman, though, made an early debut for Haas, once again subbing in, this time for an injured Kevin Magnussen. Bearman finished in the points once again at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix 2024 at P10 but failed to make it three-out-of-three at the Brazilian Grand Prix 2024.
The British driver will be making his full-season debut in Formula One with Haas alongside Esteban Ocon and will be one of the most exciting talents to watch out for.
Esteban Ocon
After winning the Formula 3 European Championship in 2014, French racer Esteban Ocon made his Formula One debut with the now defunct team, Manor Racing. While Manor left the grid the next season, Ocon was picked up by Force India, where he stayed for the next three seasons and proved himself as a solid midfield driver, helping the team in the tight midfield battle.
A member of the Mercedes Academy, Ocon was left without a seat after the 2018 season as Force India became Racing Point following the struggles of then owner Vijay Mallya. After spending a year as a Reserve Driver with Mercedes in 2019, Ocon returned to the grid in 2020 with French team Renault. Renault became Alpine in 2021 and Ocon gave the team its first win in its new moniker as he won a chaotic Hungarian Grand Prix 2021. Ocon stayed on with Alpine for the next three years and even though he scored two more podiums in the next three seasons, Alpine’s inability to fight regularly at the front of the midfield saw the team cut Ocon at the end of the 2024 season. Ocon left the team with one race to go in the 2024 season as the Frenchman was recruited by Haas to lead their charge up the midfield.
Sauber
Nico Hülkenberg
One of the most experienced drivers on the grid, Nico Hülkenberg will be making the move to Sauber for the 2025 season. The German, who made his Formula One debut way back in 2010 after spending three years as a Reserve and Test driver with Williams, made his debut with the British team in the 2010 season. Hülkenberg picked up a stunning pole at the Brazilian Grand Prix 2010 but unfortunately failed to capitalise on that. The German since then has driven for Force India, Sauber, Renault and Haas before returning to the Sauber brand in 2025.
Hülkenberg also holds an unfortunate record of having the most number of Formula One starts without a podium and it will be something he will want to change with Sauber.
Gabriel Bortoleto
Brazilian racer Gabriel Bortoleto will be another driver on the Formula One 2025 season grid who will be making his full-time debut with the young Brazilian set to partner Nico Hülkenberg at Sauber. Bortoleto comes into the 2025 season after having won the Formula 3 championship in 2023 and Formula 2 championship in 2024 before he was picked up by the Sauber team on a multi-year deal.
The Brazilian was also a part of the McLaren Driver Development Programme, which he left at the end of 2024. He will be the first-ever Formula 2 champion since Mick Schumacher to get a direct promotion to Formula One right after winning the junior category.
Williams Racing
Carlos Sainz
Another Red Bull academy member, Carlos Sainz is another driver who moves into the new season with a new team as the Spaniard moves from Ferrari to Williams Racing. Sainz, who made his Formula One debut in 2015 alongside Max Verstappen at Toro Rosso, spent a couple of years at the sister Red Bull team before moving to Renault towards the end of the 2018 season. After a season and half with Renault, Sainz made the move to McLaren which got his career going. While McLaren were far from being contenders, Sainz gave the team stellar results including podium finishes which saw him get a call to Ferrari to replace Sebastian Vettel.
Sainz’s move to Ferrari finally saw him get on top step of the podium although his time with Ferrari failed to yield him a championship battle chance. After four seasons with Ferrari, where he won four races, with 2024 being his best performance, standings and points wise, Sainz was replaced at the Italian team as the Scuderia brought in Lewis Hamilton. With not a lot of options open on the field, Sainz made a move to Williams Racing, who have been taking small steps towards moving up the midfield battle.
Sainz will partner the talented Alex Albon at Williams and should the British team be able to provide the two with a worthy car, both Sainz and Albon have the capabilities to take the British team up the field.
Alex Albon
Thai-British driver Alex Albon, a part of the Red Bull Academy moved to Formula One after a third place finish in Formula 2 in 2018. After getting the seat at Red Bull’s sister team Toro Rosso in 2019, Albon was promoted mid-season to Red Bull in that very season with Pierre Gasly struggling on the main team and Albon having put in strong drives for Toro Rosso. While Albon struggled to find consistency at Red Bull, after two tough seasons at Red Bull, Albon was demoted to a Test driver for the 2021 season.
He made his comeback to Formula One with Williams Racing in 2022 and while it was a tough debut season at Williams for Albon, he put in stellar drives for the team in the next two seasons to score important points for the team and also get them out from the very bottom of the table. Albon has now cemented himself as William’s no.1 but will have a much more experienced teammate coming in for the upcoming season in Carlos Sainz. While Williams have two solid and capable drivers in Albon and Sainz, they will need to provide the two with a strong challenger which will allow them to move up the midfield battle.
Visa Cash App Racing Bulls (VCARB)
Yuki Tsunoda
A member of the Red Bull academy, Yuki Tsunoda grabbed everyone’s attention following his F4 Japanese Championship win in 2018 and a third place finish in Formula 2 in the 2020 season.
Tsunoda was signed for the sister Red Bull team, AlphaTauri in 2021, where he scored on debut. While he still awaits a first podium finish, Tsunoda has slowly become a reliable force for Red Bull for Racing Bulls(now rebranded to) as he will be leading the team in the 2025 season alongside the debutant Isack Hadjar with the Japanese driver having more responsibility on his shoulders as the team leader.
Isack Hadjar
A fourth place finish in Formula 3 in 2022 and his runner up finish in Formula 2 2024 saw French racer Isack Hadjar get the call by Ref Bull to make his Formula One debut for Racing Bulls in the 2025 season. Impressing Red Bull team principal Christian Horner at the free practice session at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix 2024 and post season testing, Hadjar was announced as Yuki Tsunoda’s partner for Racing Bulls to replace Liam Lawson who headed to Red Bull.
