Day 6 of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup had just one game in store, Ireland taking on Canada in a Group A clash.
Ireland v Canada
This clash between Ireland and Canada has certainly left this group wide open, proving anyone is capable of winning a cricket match on their day. Canada managed to beat the favourties in the eyes of many, Ireland by 12 runs on the night.
After a brilliant batting display in their opening encounter against the USA, the Canadians managed to put up the highest 1st innings total in New York so far in the competition. Getting to a score of nearly 140, Nicholas Kirton was stunning once more as he racked up 49 of 35 balls.
In reply, the Irish top and middle-order never got out of first gear as the required rate kept shooting up. With the side 59/6 in 12.3 overs, George Dockrell and Mark Adair gave the side some hope with their respective scores of 30 and 34. However, it proved a bit too much in the end, with no real help from the top of the batting lineup.
1st innings – 137/7 (Canada in 20 overs)
2nd innings- 125/7 (Ireland in 20 overs)
