Match Number 22 of the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 sees Pakistan take on South Africa in what is a virtual knockout for the former, thereby increasing the stakes of this contest as they look to stay on in the competition and make an improbable push for the semifinals.

Here is the preview and predictions for the game.

ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 | Match 22: Pakistan vs South Africa | 15:00, October 21

With 3 out of the 4 spots already decided for the semifinals of this year’s World Cup, Pakistan, despite not having won a single game in the tournament so far, find themselves in a 5-team battle for the only remaining spot in the Final 4.

For Pakistan to make the semifinals, however, the task is herculean to say the least. They will have to win both their remaining games by huge margins, and that begins with the game against South Africa.

The focus will solely be on the side’s batting efforts as the entire tournament has been one poor batting performance after another. The batting order’s inability to perform as a unit means that they are not able to compete with the rest of the teams for the entirety of the contest despite having a bowling attack that can rival the best on their day.

Sidra Amin has been the lone star with the bat, and that speaks volumes about their dismal run with the bat. However, a concern even bigger than their batting will be the weather. Pakistan will desperately be hoping that the weather gods give them a helping hand to facilitate a full game, because a washout will surely seal their elimination from the tournament.

For South Africa, this game will be a chance to test their bench strength having already secured their passage to the semis, they have been the tournament’s biggest problem solvers, getting themselves out of tough situations game in and game out. This will be a good opportunity for them to just get their combinations right and all the players battle-tested ahead of the big examination in the semis.

Weather notwithstanding, we believe that South Africa start as favourites in this contest and are expected to win this game, thereby ending Pakistan’s World Cup.
