After another long and action-packed season, the 2024 Formula One season has come down to the final three rounds, with multiple teams and drivers in the reckoning for the Constructors’ and Drivers’ titles. Ahead of the 2024 Las Vegas Grand Prix, here’s our race preview and predictions.
Las Vegas GP 2024: Super close at the top
We’ve come down to the final three races of the 2024 F1 season, and the Drivers’ Championship is still up for grabs, though Max Verstappen’s win in Mexico has put him in pole position (no pun intended) to take his fourth Championship.
Verstappen’s masterclass in Mexico has him 62 points clear of Lando Norris. Should he win in Las Vegas, irrespective of where Norris finishes, the Dutchman will lock in the title.
Verstappen, having gone on a ten-race win-less streak, has come to form at the right time for himself and Red Bull. He won at Las Vegas last time round, though McLaren have also been strong at street circuits this year. We should be in for a close fight between the top two.
Pole position prediction: Max Verstappen / Charles Leclerc
Race winners prediction: Red Bull / McLaren
Las Vegas GP 2024: Home heroes
A race in the US means that it will be another home race (of sorts) for Haas. They were on a five-race points-scoring streak before missing out in Mexico. The Ferrari engines have helped them move up the lower midfield.
Alpine’s double podium, meanwhile, has put them in the mix for that sixth spot in the Constructors’ Standings as well, but Haas have had Nico Hülkenberg consistently knocking around the points places even when he is not scoring them. Kevin Magnussen has also recently found form, which bodes well for the American team. Expect Haas to have a good weekend in Las Vegas.
Las Vegas GP 2024: Fighting for Constructors’
While McLaren and Red Bull have been battling it out for the win on most weekends, Ferrari have crept up to second. Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz have had race wins recently to help the Scuderia overtake Red Bull in the Constructors’ Standings.
The Italian team are 36 points behind the table-topping McLaren and 13 clear of Red Bull in third. They have been strong and the favourites in most street circuits, so they are likely to do well at the Grand Prix in Las Vegas as well, maybe even be on top of the podium. Three strong races from Leclerc and Sainz may just put Ferrari in pole position to take their first Constructors’ title since 2008.
