Mercedes takes over full role as provider of Safety Cars for Formula One
Mercedes-AMG will supply the Official Formula One Safety Car and Medical Car for all the races during the upcoming Formula One 2026 season with the team set to provide Safety Car and Medical Car for the official pre-season tests in Bahrain as well. Mercedes and Aston Martin used to provide the Safety Car and Medical Car since the 2021 season but starting from the Formula One 2026 season, it will be only Mercedes.
The Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series has been the Official FIA F1 Safety Car, and the Mercedes- AMG GT 63 S 4MATIC+ the Official FIA F1 Medical Car since the Formula One 2022 season and the cars as used not only in Formula One but also F2 and F3 and other junior and support racing series.
Christoph Sagemüller, Head of Mercedes-AMG Motorsport, commented,
