Tennis icon and 22-time Grand Slam champion Rafael Nadal has been named as a brand ambassador by the Saudi Tennis Federation following a partnership agreement.

The deal will see Nadal spend time in Saudi Arabia to help the young and upcoming talent in the country train and grow interest in the sport. There is also a plan to develop a Rafa Nadal Academy in the Kingdom.

The move comes on the back of Saudi Arabia set to host the Next Gen ATP Finals for top 21-and-under players in Jeddah until at least 2027. The country is also in talks to host the season-ending WTA Finals.

Rafael Nadal spoke about his new role, stating:

Everywhere you look in Saudi Arabia, you can see growth and progress and I’m excited to be part of that. I continue to play tennis as I love the game. But beyond playing I want to help the sport grow far and wide across the world and in Saudi there is real potential.
