Scuderia Ferrari are building some momentum in the run-up to the 2021 season. After having confirmed their driver line-up at the beginning of the 2020 season itself, Mattis Binotto has been hard at work since the Bahrain Grand Prix to rebuild the Ferrari engine from scratch. In early February, Ferrari released the dates for their Team and car launch.
The big reveal for the Team will be on the 26th of Feb, with the car launch taking place on the 10th of March. They have now also confirmed some new long-term partnerships. The renewed partnerships are meant to focus on sustainability and help continue the technological development of the engine.
Meanwhile, a couple of new sponsors have joined hands with Ferrari, with their attractiveness undeterred even after a lowly 6th place finish in 2020. These partners have joined Ferrari as their official “beer” partner and official timekeeping partner.
So, what all partnerships have been confirmed by Ferrari?
1. Scuderia Ferrari Mission Winnow and Shell
Scuderia Ferrari have renewed their alliance with Shell. This alliance is one of the oldest in the world of motorsport, dating all the way back to 1929. This renewal has been built to search for more wins on track, focus on sustainability and technology transfer, and define the regulations relating to the future’s power units.
This is what Mattia Binotto had to say about this renewal:
“We share many common values, not least excellence, passion for racing and teamwork, which have made this partnership unique in the history of motor sport.
As our Innovation Partner we will continue to work with Shell on the transfer of racing technology to mobility as well as the ambitious challenges that lie ahead in particular the aim of Formula 1 to reach a net-zero emissions level by 2030.”
Global Executive VP for Mobility at Shell, Istvan Kapitany also chimed in with a clear message on sustainability:
“Our partnership with Ferrari has bred truly remarkable innovations – innovations that Shell regularly relies upon when developing new fuels and lubricants for our customers.
We’re now entering a very exciting time in our history together as we leverage this partnership to not only strive for success on the track, but also to develop cleaner fuels and lubricants for our customers.”
2. Scuderia Ferrari Mission Winnow and Estrella Galicia
The arrival of Carlos Sainz has also ushered in a new partnership between Ferrari and Estrella Galicia 0.0. The beer brand now become the official “beer” partner at Ferrari. Estrella Galicia have a reputation of forging partnerships with some of the best up and coming Spanish sportsman in motorsport. This is what Mattia Binotto had to say about their partnership with Estrella Galicia:
“We are pleased to embark on this new partnership with Estrella Galicia 0.0 an emerging brand in the global beer sector. We share many values with the Spanish company, such as the pursuit of excellence, respect for tradition and ties to our geographic roots and the craftsmanship of our product. Furthermore, Estrella Galicia 0.0 has been present in motor sport for many years, paying particular attention to talented youngsters, which is something else we have in common.”
CEO of Corporacion Hijos de Rivera, the holding company of Estrella Galicia, said this about the new partnership:
“We are pleased to become a Team Partner of Scuderia Ferrari, the most successful team with the biggest following in F1. Our association is based on shared values such as passion, search for excellence and our artisan tradition. I am sure that with these ingredients, we will enjoy great moments together that will help get our message across to beer lovers around the world.”
3. Scuderia Ferrari Mission Winnow and Richard Mille
Scuderia Ferrari have announced the signing of Richard Mille as their team partner. They have signed a multi-year deal with Ferrari, which will see them develop custom watches for the drivers, with their names proudly displayed on the cars. Apart from their F1 deal, Richard Mille will also become the official timekeeper sponsor for Competizioni GT and the Ferrari Challenger series.
The renewal with Shell was an inevitability, with the long standing partnership one of the most successful one in F1 history. This partnership has yielded 10 constructors and 12 drivers title. Along with this renewal, the new sponsors are a big boost to the brand that is Scuderia Ferrari, with Richard Mille and Estrella Galicia putting their trust in a constructor which finished a lowly 6th last year.
