On Day 10 of the 2024 Paris Olympics, Denmark’s Viktor Axelsen defended his gold from Tokyo Olympics by beating Thailand’s Kunlavut Viditsarn in a one-sided encounter, winning 21-11, 21-11 and becoming in the process only the second shuttler after China’s Lin Dan to win two consecutive Olympic golds in Men’s Singles Badminton.
Rebeca Andrade, meanwhile, became the first Brazilian to win a Women’s Floor Exercise gold with a score of 14.166, while Simone Biles took the silver. Andrade’s gold was her sixth Olympic medal in total, making her the most decorated Olympian from Brazil.
SHOOTING
Mixed Team Skeet: Maheshwari Chauhan and Anant Jeet Singh Naruka lost a close game by a score of 43-44 against Jiang Yiting and Lyu Jianlin of China in the bronze medal match.
TABLE TENNIS
Women’s Team Event: Indian women’s team, comprising Manika Batra, Sreeja Akula, and Archana Kamath, beat the fourth-ranked team from Romania to enter the Quarter-finals. India won 3-2, with Manika Batra playing the decider and beating Adina Diaconu 11-5, 11-9, 11-9 to turn the tie in India’s favour.
BADMINTON
Men’s Singles: Lakshya Sen lost to Lee Zii Jia of Malaysia after winning the first set and leading 8-2 in the second set. He lost the bronze medal match by a score of 21-13, 16-21, 11-21.
WRESTLING
Women’s 68kg: Nisha Dahiya’s Olympic journey ended in tears as she lost her Quarter-final match 8-10 to Democratic People’s Republic of Korea wrestler Pak Sol Gum. Dahiya was leading 8-2 with 30 seconds to go when she got injured.
SAILING
Men’s Dinghy: Vishnu Saravanan failed to qualify for the medal race as he couldn’t finish in the top 10 after ten races. He finished the event at P18 with a net score of 114 points.
Women’s Dinghy: Nethra Kumanan failed to qualify for the medal race as she couldn’t end up in the top 10 after nine races. She finished the event at P21 with a net score of 155 points.
ATHLETICS
Women’s 400m Heat 5: Kiran Pahal failed to qualify for the 400m Semi-finals, ending the race at P7, overall P39. She will have a chance at the repechage round tomorrow.
Men’s 3000m Steeplechase: Avinash Sable qualified for the Finals in Heat 2, finishing the race at P5.
