Hosts England hit back in a rain-affected second game at Lord’s to tie up the ODI series. It is now all to play for as the action moves to Chester-le Street, with the Women in Blue having a chance to complete a white-ball tour double.

Ahead of the third and final ODI between England and India, here are our match preview and predictions.

In the second game, the Indian batting went through the same thing England’s batting has gone through this entire series and struggled against the spinners. They had an off day, especially the experienced top-order batters, which was eventually the cause for their loss.

Harmanpreet Kaur will expect her batters to step up in the series decider. With the ball, meanwhile, the Indians weren’t able to do much either, as despite being economical the bowlers weren’t able to get the crucial breakthroughs whilst defending a low total.

The hosts, on the other hand, were clinical with the ball. The experienced Sophie Ecclestone stood out in particular, and even those who weren’t among the wickets managed to slow the run flow, with no English bowler going above six an over. Charlie Dean, Linsey Smith, and Ecclestone gave nothing away to the Indian batters; captain Nat Sciver-Brunt will expect more of the same in the decider.

With the bat, England’s top order finally came together in a low run chase. Amy Jones and Tammy Beaumont gave them a solid platform with a good opening partnership before Sciver-Brunt took the team home. England will expect to take the momentum into the final game, and if there is one area Sciver-Brunt will want her team to improve, it is the catching.

The Riverside Ground is one where the batters on both sides should thrive, and while the seamers might get some assistance, expect a high-scoring finale.

Having found some form, especially with the bat, expect England to turn it around to steal the series.

Fantasy XI: Smriti Mandhana, Pratika Rawal, Amy Jones, Harmanpreet Kaur, Tammy Beaumont, Nat Sciver-Brunt, Sophia Dunkley, Deepti Sharma, Sneh Rana, Sophie Ecclestone, Lauren Bell

Venue: Riverside Ground, Chester-le-Street
Winners Prediction: England
