England look like a force to be reckoned with in this tournament. With three wins in three, with consistent and high-quality performances in all those games, Nat Sciver-Brunt & Co look like a side that has all the bases covered, which is remarkable given they entered the tournament with a fair few question marks.

Skipper Sciver-Brunt has led from the front with her captaincy and prowess with both bat and ball. She has taken four wickets and scored 149 runs, including her first ODI century as England skipper against Sri Lanka that helped her side seal victory on a rather tricky pitch.

Along with Sciver-Brunt, the likes of Sophie Ecclestone, Heather Knight, Lauren Bell, Charlie Dean, and Danni Wyatt-Hodge have all chipped in with match-changing contributions, adding a further layer of formidable quality to the side. With tougher tests to come, England will be well aware of the fact that anything less than victory against Pakistan will have a huge impact in their bid to make the semi-finals.

For Pakistan, the tournament has already turned into a face-saving exercise. Losing all their games with huge margins has all but ended their hopes of making the cut for the final four. 

It has been a case of scattered cricket for the Women in Green. They’d be uber-competitive and dominate their opponents for a particular stretch of the game but fail to maintain that dominance for an entire game, slowly losing control and eventually losing their way altogether. This was evident in both their games against India and Australia, where they let advantageous positions slip due to a combination of poor decision-making and poor cricket. 

In this contest, there is a clear winner. England’s better squad, boasting superior quality and class on paper, means that they should emerge as comfortable victors in this contest.
